American Hunters

http://nation.foxnews.com/2013/11/04/american-hunters-–-world’s-largest-army

Interesting read.

what army of 2 million would want to face 30, 40, 50 million armed citizens? For the sake of our freedom, don’t ever allow gun control or confiscation of guns.

No Kidding
Why do you think they (government,Nato,What ever) wants our guns. You can not control a population that is armed. All you have to do is ask Hitler&Stalin. Or maybe check out any of the third world countries were the people try and fight the government with sticks and stones and see how that works out. If you notice how this POS president has pushed us closer and closer to being a third world country. We are in a sad state of affairs and if the people don't get out and vote and this no good lying piece of trash,so called women gets elected. We "as proud American people" can pretty much stick you head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye.

We better have part of the military with us as a couple gunships cancel a whole bunch of hunters.

Yeah, remember Waco. I've heard about the "armed citizen army". It sounds good at first glance but getting down to a practical level - it's not organized. No command & control, no communications and probably no real dedication (maybe a few here & there). How many will start shooting with your wife & kids behind you?

If you could ask the Poles in the ghetto of Warsaw, you might get a real answer

OK, time to give up the new guy status and take a stand. Figure it will get trolled as I have scoped the site out pretty good. I , for one, know that I don't stand a chance against military might or technology. Yet am willing to give it all up for LIBERTY. A word that seems to escape some and which the country was founded on. My wife is willing as well but would probably take the young one somewhere safe and mourn the ol' man. At least where I live has been a haven for those that have opposed oppression for years.Doubtful that the collective would organize more than neighbor helping neighbor and I would be a pile of of guts in a smoking hole in a matter of a few hours - but at least I'd get to yell " Fill your hands you SOB." one last time:)

I believe that for THEM to have any kind of success with a gun ban/confiscation, it would not be THEM taking our guns, but us giving them up; and we must never do that.

Concerning "old guys", many of us fit the mold of being a real hard ass, and aren't adverse to making a stand and proving a point. I'm not all that old, and I love living, but I'm not afraid of dying. And I know that if it happens, I'm past the point of having my sweet young life stolen away. jd

Just 3% of the colonial population had the courage to risk it all for freedom. I feel there are too many things people feel are more important (a retirement pension, mortgage payment on the dream house, super bowl sunday- just name it). How many would simply obey the edict and turn their firearms over? Look at Australia and England.

I'm pretty sure that where I live, and among many of the folks that I know, that just aint gonna happen. jd

There are many who would turn them in without hesitation. Many would not and a few of them would be made an example of. Then the trials would be a media show. The rest of them who did not turn them in would face how faithful their relatives are.

I guess we can look to those places or just look here. There are a few areas here I the US that desperately need trigger pullers to restore their rights. Are there any shooters out there working to restore their rights? Nope.

Hope against all hope. I would love to believe that all gun owners would stand together and deliver a deafening NO! It simply amazes me at the number of shooters who refuse to join the NRA,GOA or even state level gun rights groups. I fear too many are following the carrot on the end of a stick. Too concerned with the hear and now. Sure they talk a big game but that is where I have to refer to the original 3%.

Well, look at the number of people that can be housed FEMA's camps, and you'll probably get a pretty good idea of how many people would rise up, or at least how many people would need removed to get the remaining people to go along with the state.

The divide in America is getting bigger. They don't teach history like they use to. Less and less young people know about the Founders, are taught about the Constitution, the bill of rights. The libtards are in our schools, abound on college campuses, in the media, in politics and they have sick agenda. Not happy with living their own way of life they want to push it on everybody with no regard of how others believe, with little love for the Red, White and Blue and all she stands for.

Sometimes I fantasize of building a wall along the Rockies. Give the libtards everything east and keep the west. We could bring all the founding documents west, the liberty bell and so forth. We could keep the Republic that was intended, they could wallow in their socialist agenda. They would need a passport to visit and as they descended into failure and darkness, they could apply for citizenship in the west. It would be a difference as clear as black and white in a very short time. This is just figurative rambling, no offense to my brothers in the east.

There is a great book there, Unintended Consequences, for the person who enjoys firearms and liberty. It's long but it's a good read, one of my favorites. We need to stick together, get involved in the political arena and fight to preserve what we all love and value. The Founders warned of our day and time, their writings are clear, born of experience. Ben Franklin had it right when a lady asked him "what have you given us?" He responded, "A Republic if you can keep it".

I agree with Naneker. What ultimately may be needed is a split in our boundaries. It is happening at a slow pace with some moving to States like Texas to escape the idiotic liberal agenda of States like CA. Generally speaking, conservatives desire to live their lives as they choose, within the boundaries of the Constitution. Progressives choose to meddle in others lives, working to impose their beliefs/lifestyle on others, and dismantle the Constitution. I saw a photo awhile ago with the caption " everyone is a Patriot until it comes time to do Patriot Sh*#". We shall see.

Splitting our nation will only weaken the power the US has. What makes you think the liberals will not infect your new "free" land? There is only one true way to deal with liberals before splitting the US into smaller chunks.

Might I mention that a wall at the Rockies (I like the idea BTW) would do a great job of keeping California to the flank...

No offense taken, nakmeker.

There have to be a whole bunch of guns in the hands of citizens these days. Most guys I know do not really hunt. Most guys I know own a high capacity pistol and likely an AR. Damn near everyone has their dad's or grandfather's gun in a closet or drawer. I think gun ownership statistics are understated. I grew up in Texas and TN. This could give me a skewed vision of gun ownership.

I recently bought an H&K pistol. This was my first "combat" style pistol. I really did not get any excitement out of the purchase. I am not much of a self defense or "tactical" guy. I would carry the pistol in my truck and on my person often if I did not have a slightly autistic son and if I did not have a rock solid case of Attention Deficit Disorder. I had determined that there was more risk to my family from my toting a loaded handgun from place to place than there was of my needing a handgun in a threat situation. I am now planning to carry in some limited situations. This is just my situation but I am glad to know that many law abiding folks are regularly carrying pistols. For the moment this pistol is at my office. Part of my reason for buying this pistol is my fear that our government will soon restrict high capacity pistols. I have little interest in buying an AR. This said, I will probably buy one soon. I am convinced that the Democrats will come after the "black guns" with a vengeance after their unfortunately likely win in November. I have no need for an AR but it pisses me off that I may be restricted from buying one in the future. I think that gun ownership will continue to surge due to the fear of government restrictions. This is a great paradoxical boost for the gun industry that is beleaguered by trial lawyers and lawmakers.
