Aluminum or steel one piece base for 308 recoil.

Will an EGW HD 7075 aluminum base be stable enough or should i get their steel one? Should I bed it , or JB weld it ?

You can use either or.I have at least 3 .308's with aluminum 1 piece rails. Just make sure you bed it to the reciever and Tighten the scope enough so It doesnt slip in the rings.

I use aluminum because it is cheaper and I have never bedded one. I always blue Loctite the base screws and torque them to the manufacturer's reccomended specs. I also torque the ring base screws and ring screws, but do not Loctite them. I have had no trouble on my .308.

Aluminium will work. EGW`s are made from good material.
I glue all bases with 2K Epoxy - also the screws - for best fitting and 100% recoil resistance.

If it`s ever necessary to disassemble a glued rail / screws, only heat it up to about 200° C. Than you can open the screws and put of the rail very easy.

I also glue all scopes. At smaller calibers I first wax the maintube - at larger calibers (>300 WinMag) I glued the maitube together with the rings.

Excellent are also metal powder epoxys because they get very hard. But they are not so easy to use like normal 2K Epoxy.

Torque to 18# and don't worry about it. You'll be fine. You don't need loctite or epoxy. Aluminum rails are fine for a .308.

I have done the exact same here as he but have never put loctite on my screws and have never had a problem through the years with any of my rifles.
