I have a Vais break on a hunting rifle and wanting to add a stream line tuner to in like a browning boss. Has anyone done this before?

I threaded a Harrels and made two weights to make a tuner...

Steve,
I was thinking of making one on the lathe but I never have had my hands on one to wrap my brain around for a guidance.

I have done it and it worked just fine. I made a nut with a nice counter bore on the barrel side. It had a nice angle that covered the exposed threads behind the brake. Looked and worked great. Sorry no pic.:D:D

I was thinking of make a slim nut that goes over the break on the back side not over the holes of the break.
That's exactly how I did the tuner brake above. Here is a pic of the threads. The threaded weights were made to fit the threaded OD of brake.

Ridgeway.
What was the thickness of your weights?
Also did you take off weight/washer as you were shooting or add washer at the beginning.

On mine the two are to lock together to stay in place. Loosen and turn one a bit and lock back together until you find your tune.

The lock nut is like .200 or so wide. The weight with engraved lines is about .750 and is counterbored to fit over barrel. I engraved a reference line on barrel. I machined it on fly...no real dimensions to follow...just made it to fit and to look decent.

Yes, I have. No photos. I used a large magnum brake from MBM. 40 tpi. --Jerry
