ALPHA Brass

I use Alpha 6BRA and it’s just fine, no difference between that and Lapua, and it’s available. I just go to their place in Salt Lake City and buy it direct, a few times now. This last time got the only box of std. 6BR left in stock. It doesn’t just come loose in a box or bag, it’s in an mtm style box sized for the BR case and padded with 2 sheets of foam. No rattle. Loaded some 58Vmax and compared to Lapua. Loaded neck dia - Alpha .2685, Lapua .269 —- .200 dia, Alpha and Lapua both .469.
As an aside, Alpha is making 6PPC brass. They’ve shipped a bunch to two different sellers but I don’t remember which ones.
As another aside - they’re very good people and a pleasure to deal with.

Now for the big news in the world of brass...

Many of you are keenly aware of the shortage of components, especially 220 Russian brass for use in the PPC family of cartridges. We've been working with Alpha Munitions on development for a long while now and Alpha is very close to having 6PPC brass available. They are looking to get this brass in as many experienced shooters' hands as possible for final testing before bringing it to full production. With any luck, we will have some for distribution at the IBS Nationals in under two weeks. This first allocation is already spoken for, if it passes muster with the experts, we should be stocked up sometime in the Fall.

I had the pleasure of shooting 30 pieces of the first samples and now have 23 firings on that first set. So far I have not had any issues with it and the primer pockets are still holding firm. Here are a few notes from my testing:
  1. neck wall thickness - .0129" - .0140"
  2. weight distribution 108.7 - 109.8gr
  3. primer pocket diameter .172"
  4. flash hole .060"
  5. no excessive case length growth
  6. no "clickers"
Since initial testing, Alpha Munitions has changed a few of their specs based on input from their guineau pigs. These slight changes should result in some of the best PPC brass around. We are really looking forward to getting this brass into the hands of some real experts. The retail price on Alpha Munitions 6PPC brass will come in at $160.

I just received my first purchase from Alpha. 6mm ARC. I have to imagine the 6 ppc 6mm ARC process tend to be quite similar.

Look forward to getting to know the Alpha 6mm ARC brass in the near future.

Alpha has been perfect for my 6Dasher.
Folks said you need aan Alpha reamer, etc etc. All BS. 104 FB, .272 neck.
Loads and shoots great.
I got a batch of Alpha Dasher brass from them that had necks that measured 0.275". It wouldn't even fit in the chamber without neck turning. The rest of the Alpha has been 0.272".
