Alpha 6 Dasher brass

What has everyone experience been with Alpha brass?

I've read it is very consistent brass just softer than Lapua.

Are you using the same powder charge as Lapua brass to get the same velocity?

I'm reading some people are running into early pressure signs or drastic velocity difference between virgin brass and once fired brass

It's good stuff. My velocities are the same between Alpha and Lapua. First firing, I would load a "fireforming" type charge weight to somewhat work harden the case head, otherwise you will see an ejector swipe. After that, run it wide open. I don't think the flash hole size makes a difference as far as my shooting goes.

Dropped my charge weight .10 gr to match velocities in Lapua fire formed. No Issues with pressure so far. Only three firings on the brass so time will tell, but no difference in charge weight or point of impact between new and fired brass.

The OCD stuff is tough. And dont worry about the .080" flash hole. Testing is not finished but I think guys will be surprised when it is. Common knowledge that the .059" flash hole is best is not proving to be true so far.

Thanks for the input that's great to hear

Are you seeing similar powder charge weights to using lapua brass?

What is the difference in the first run of Alpha dasher and the ocd stuff?

I think since late 2020. I received some of their 6BRA brass in January IIRC and it was the OCD technology.

I think the brass I got was in the Sept-Oct time frame. Maybe made before the technology change. I certainly can't "pressure" mine up like I sometimes do with the Lapua. And for damn sure not like their testers.

I e-mailed them about the BRA-OCD brass and he said all BRA is OCD.
Got mine in Dec. and it had a paper sleeve over the box that said OCD.
Same here. Mine had the OCD sleeve as well.
My Dasher brass is not OCD. It is on load number four and has worked fine.

As with the Norma 6 Dasher from Shiraz, the Alpha will require some adjustment to your load. While I generally keep my Lapua at around 32,7 Varget the Alpha will keep up loaded to 32.3 Varget. Also, some have had issues blanking primers when fire forming. I never had that issue either.
