Alpen scopes

Against my advice, a shooting buddy of mine bought a 6-24x Alpen scope for about $430.

After he made the purchase on Amazon, I was finally able to find a review of an Alpen product, but it was binos, not a rifle scope. Birdwatchers.com actually liked the binos and gave a very good review.

I'm afraid he might get it and be impressed with the glass, only to discover down the road it fails in a serious way.

Anyone have any short term or long term experience with this brand of scopes?

I have had an Alpen 20-60x80 spotter for several years now. It's been great. Has great glass for its price range. And even some more pricey... I've been extremely satisfied.
