ALLIANT RELOADER 15 FOR 6.5 CREEDMOOR ?

I've been shooting box ammo in my Tikka T3X tac 6.5 CM and have actually had some good results out to 500 yds. But my buddy's benchrest 6.5 rifle is a tack driver but he's never had it out past 500. Being a really good benchrest competitor he is very picky about everything and his results prove that. His combo is Sierra 140gn bullets and Alliant Reloader 15. Same for his 308 that is a laser. I'm an experienced pistol reloader and thinking about reloading some 6.5. My question is does anyone know how this powder holds up out to 1000 yds & beyond? I trust his guidance but I'm just looking at all the options out there.

I have given up on RL15. I have had the POI rise as much as 2 ft. at 1k. too temp sensitive as the day heats up for me. which is a shame because I have shot some good scores with it, but had a hard time chasing the temp. rise

My loads with Re-15 and the 140 gr. in the 6.5 Creedmoor were a little hot for my taste and less powder fill so I switched to the 130 gr. and got better results. I prefer a full or nearly full case with the bullet seated. Re-17 suits me better actually.

In the .308 Win., Re-15 has been standard for quite a while. I still shoot it under the Hornady 176 gr. A-Tip bullets. But there are also other powders to consider such as IMR 3031 or 8208 (lighter bullets).

Many of these discussions can be attributed to the barrel, chamber and lot# of the powder you choose. There can be some variations in performance when lot#s come into play. Not all powders are plug and play.

Enjoy the process!

Have tried to get 108gr Lapua Scenars to shoot in my 6.5CM's....no luck until I tried Reloader 15. However, loads were shot at 68-70 and so how they will shoot at higher temps is unknown.

RL15 is predictable. I have used it in several cartridges. Used wisely it works well.
