All readers should read this!

While doing research this morning for a friend of mine, I came upon a quote made by a true American, Ben Franklin, in 1775, and it makes the comparison of the new America to a timber rattlesnake. This should just about define this country of ours as well as it ever has.

Amen Ben.

"I recollected that her eye excelled in brightness, that of any other animal, and that she has no eye-lids—She may therefore be esteemed an emblem of vigilance.—She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage.—As if anxious to prevent all pretensions of quarreling with her, the weapons with which nature has furnished her, she conceals in the roof of her mouth, so that, to those who are unacquainted with her, she appears to be a most defenseless animal; and even when those weapons are shewn and extended for her defense, they appear weak and contemptible; but their wounds however small, are decisive and fatal:—Conscious of this, she never wounds till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him against the danger of stepping on her.—Was I wrong, Sir, in thinking this a strong picture of the temper and conduct of America?"

While that is a great simile of what America should be, I feel that it is not symbolic of what America has become. I wish it was. It does, however, represent a small group of us who are still patriots ready to stand against tyranny, oppression, and those who would look to take away from the very foundations of this country. It is symbolic of those who still believe that the constitution means exactly what it says. Very good quote though. Apply it to your life. God bless.

Yes, a good quote. I'm afraid that the powers that be do not understand what he said, nor do those that hold those truths to be self-evident. The one is already stomping on the other seemingly without fear of any wound what so ever.

Our government would be well advised to remember that only 5.6% of the citizens participatd in the American Revolution, and still the patriots prevailed! Of course a second American Revolution would be more like the French Revolution, violent and messy!

The bold part made me think of this quote: "I recollected that her eye excelled in brightness, that of any other animal, and that she has no eye-lids—She may therefore be esteemed an emblem of vigilance.—She never begins an attack, nor, when once engaged, ever surrenders: She is therefore an emblem of magnanimity and true courage.—As if anxious to prevent all pretensions of quarreling with her, the weapons with which nature has furnished her, she conceals in the roof of her mouth, so that, to those who are unacquainted with her, she appears to be a most defenseless animal; and even when those weapons are shewn and extended for her defense, they appear weak and contemptible; but their wounds however small, are decisive and fatal:—Conscious of this, she never wounds till she has generously given notice, even to her enemy, and cautioned him against the danger of stepping on her.—Was I wrong, Sir, in thinking this a strong picture of the temper and conduct of America?"

The bold part made me think of this quote: “Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.” -Sun Tzu

Those that are living in Versailles on the Potomac appear to be wearing blinders. They have to leave their palaces and wake the f***-up.No honest American wants another revolution, but,if necessary are willing to stand and fight.Ben Franklin's children are waking up......
