Air gun with atn x sight for night for killing Rats Help

We have been infested with rats in few of our buildings. I will be shooting inside mostly up in attic of large buildings.
Have no clue on air rifles but I am willing to spend some money on a good night vision scope and a good air rifle. see there are a couple different calibers. anyone on here point me in the right direction . We do not want to use poison cause they always die in walls and stinks the buildings up. I am still using rat traps but can get only so many. plus I think there are getting smart to the traps.

I like PCP air rifles. A 22 Maruader and a pony tank is gonna cost you, or shoot 20 and then pump, pump, pump, pump....

Regardless, they are quiet, hit like a hammer, are accurate and a ton of fun.

night scope? no idea...

If I were shooting in a closed environment I would go with a 177 Benjamin marauder . A .22 is big for a closed environment.

I use my 1322 for the rats in my garage. The building is detached from the house and under a very large almond tree, plus it has a false ceiling. So, I stay busy at night shooting them in the garage.

Rats actually have pretty poor eyesight, even a white light shined directly at them as long as you keep your profile relatively still (meaning make all movements in line with your body, not to the side) they have a hard time seeing you.

Go pick up a tuned Xisico springer from Mike Melick at Flying Dragon, it will be far above any off the shelf Gamo/benji/ruger springer for the same price or less, plus guaranteed. A springer is nice because of minimal maintenance and all you need to go shoot is a pocket full of pellets.

Shooting rodents at night with air rifles is prevalent in Great Britain, probably in part because firearm ownership is not easy over there. You can adapt an inexpensive older video camera equipped with night vision to a rifle scope or a miniature automotive back up camera with remote display mounted on top of the scope. There are lots of videos on the web of shooting rats at night with air rifles. Due to their strict attitude towards guns they are limited to low energy air guns, I think 11 or 12 for pounds of energy max. For comparison a Benjamin Marauder 22 PCP has 30+ FPE.

I have a Marauder in 25 cal. Man, I’d hate to shoot it in a closed space. It will go through a 2x4 (so, 1.5” of pine) like it isn’t there.

12 inch barrel with shroud makes it look longer, shoot quiet.
Adjustable power thumb wheel. Runs from app. 550 to 875 fps.
Easy killer out to 50 yds.
Looks good shoots great.

Go to you tube and watch the bucket trick for rats but the one that is posted looks good to.
easy to make and can put as many out as is needed.

Pick up an HW97, plenty of power ,spring cock and very accurate. A Beeman R1 break barrel is also A good one with out breaking the bank! The red lazer light that I've seen on Ruger 10-22 would be a kick to put on an air rifle. As kids we used to walk water canels and shoot rice rats on the other bank. Had on A head light to see there eyes and scoped 22RF rifles. Cocked the headlight to the left of out head,so the scope matched up with the light going over the top and right on the rat. Sure love to do that again!
OR your 22RF shooting CB Caps.......

Cci quiets are 40gr at 710fps and accurate. For inside shooting it will be hard not to overpenetrate on walls and such. Maybe shotshell loads for a 22?

Growing up I shot a lot of sparrows in the cattle barns using a pump up pellet gun. What I didn't like was the pellets that would bounce straight back and hit you which I think was because the only pellets we could buy were flat nose. Aquillia used to make Colibri and Super Colibri. The Colibri are perfect for inside quiet work. If this rimfire thing settles down I'm going to lay in a case of each as I like them much better than air rifles for what I do.
