Why are the 223 AICS magazines so hard to find and so expensive? I have a Savage 110 Scout 223 that uses the AICS magazines and I am having trouble finding them. I would like a 5 round and even a single shot sled, but don't want to pay$100 for one. I think Ruger uses the AICS system in their Scout rifle, but I can't find them either.

For a single shot sled on my MDT chassis, I use the Original Bob Sled.
Original Bob Sled vs MK Machine
For my bolt action rifle the Original Bob Sled fits really well. Shooting a .223 & 20 Practical I can feed the bullet from the left or right side and it drops right on top of the rails on the sled. Feeds very smooth, no hang ups or miss feeds. The Bob Sled is slightly longer that the magwell on the chassis.
The MKM sled locks up okay but not as good as the Bob Sled. When dropping a loaded round in, the round does not always fall in place as it should. Sometimes a little off to the side and doesn't straighten up as the bolt is going forward. The feeding ramp was a little low on the nose and I built it up and sanded it down to where it needed to be for smooth feeding. On the Bob Sled the top of the magazine has a rail on each side that supports the round and is almost a direct in line feed to the chamber.
The Bob Sled goes for a little different price depending on which vender you go with.

5 rounders will be hard but 10/12 round mags are easy and not overly expensive. Wait until MDT Black Friday sale and get them about half off. I buy mags every year that way and use their poly .223 mags in my match rifle and they work great and can load out to 2.550".
Keep an eye out for it. I believe it's the only annual sale they have.
