AICS magazine fed 6mm BR DX. Is it difficult to feed reliably?

I know most of you guys on here are Bench Rest shooters with single shot guns, but does anyone have any experience feeding the 6 BR DX through a mag as a repeater? I like the performance that you guys are getting with this cartridge and am doing a build for the PRS (precision rifle series) where you need to be able to shoot multiple rounds in quick succession. I've heard they are difficult to feed but was wondering if anyone has a tried and true recipe for this.

What stock are you using? I shoot a 6BR out of Tubb rifle, but I use Eliseo mags, that are installed inside a DPMS body....never a problem

I had my Stiller Tac 30 action with 6 BRDX bbl in an AICS 1.5 for a while and from 308 AI mags with no mods it fed ok as long as you slammed it home but sometimes on extraction the case would spin around in the action and wind up pointing backwards on top of the magazine in the action,,

I am sure there are mods or other mags that would work but I switched to a straight 243 and love it so far,,depending on bbl life I may switch to the 6XC or SLR next bbl but I really like the way the 243 shoots accuracy wise, and the speed I get makes hitting unknown distance targets much easier,,I really am liking the 243 but may not be able to afford bbls that often and switch to the XC as it isnt much slower and shoots just as good from what I have seen from friends rifles,,

if someone would just make 6BR specific mags for the AI magwell they would outsell 22LR ammo.

Mr. Big, You were shooting the 6BR DX for a while and seemed to really like it. Why did you change to the straight 243?

I was shooting the BRDX bbl action single shot in a Shehane ST1000F stock bedded with a single shot follower and it fed and shot fantastic,,when I got some rounds on that bbl I thought I would put it in the AICS 1.5 and get a new Brux bbl for the SHehane stock,,

the BRDX is great for single feed BR but for PRS typs shooting I liked the extra speed and the better ejection it would work fine in PRS as it feeds fine and extracts fine it just didnt throw the cases clear of the action 100% ,,you may get it to work fine as I didnt try anything to fix it I just chambered it in a round that was made for the 308 Mags,,

if I dont get over 1,000 rounds from the 243 the next bbl will be an XC,,

I have two Dashers chambered on Bighorn actions. No problems feeding the Dasher through AICS mags. Bent/flared the feed lips slightly. The tenth round is a bit snug, no big deal.

I've registered for three PRS matches so far and the Steel Safari. Will be shooting the Dasher.

I'm blown away by the Dashers accuracy, how well it holds vertical......

Last year I was squaded with a guy shooting a BRX, Defiance action, AICS mags. Fed great, he told me he didn't modify the mags.

What kind of velocity are you getting with which bullet? What have you experienced the Dasher barrel life to be with that load?
I understand the dasher is a PIA to form brass, have you experienced that? I would love to go the dasher route if the negatives aren't too bad, it definitely has some great positives!

Ok, so the Dasher will give a much higher velocity VS the 6BR, and has been proven to feed reliably, so what about the Dashed VS the 6x47? I'm not trying to start any controversy here, I just have no experience with the 6mm cartridges and am trying to decide what to do this build in.
Thanks for any input.

It looks like one of the problems with a short case in a repeater 700 is ejecting the case reliably. There's a youtube comparison between a stock extractor and Sako extractor on a 700 bolt and it seems the Sako extractor throws the case clear consistently. Not sure about the feeding though.

I just posted about this in regard to the Dasher.. I've noticed a move toward the Dasher this past PRS season.. I'm interested in any tricks for feeding as well..

Wouldn't the Sako style be the "claw type" like on a Stiller Tac 30??

Dasher vs 6x47?

I've shot out 4 6x47 barrels. 3-24", 1-26". Velocity 3030-3050, 105 Hybrid. From my experience I would not shoot a big match where I laid out lots of cash for entry, travel, hotel...with more then 1200rds on a 6x47 barrel. What I'm hoping for with the Dasher is longer barrel life, consistent over the barrel life. I've had the 6x47 slow down in the middle of matches, drop 50+ fps, not fun. Luckily those were local matches! I had my 6BR barrel with 1800rds on it re-chambered to a Dasher, put another 900rds on the barrel FF'ing 400 cases, shot a local square range steel matches FF'ing.... Velocity didn't changed in those 900rds, that's promising! I just had a new 26" barrel chambered for that action, shooting very well. 32.5/Varget/Hybrid/2980. Difference in velocity between my 6x47's and the Dashers, I don't think it matters. I'll gladly give up a little velocity for the Dashers accuracy and most likely longer barrel life.

I spoke to one of the GA Precision shooters at the GAP Grind and he put over 2,000rds on his 6mm Creed match gun, so I wouldn't worry about a 6x47L slowing down to much before 1,200rds..

Some folks are running 105s in dasher at 3050 fps. I'm still confused why 6x47 can only match or barely exceed in velocity over dasher while using 10 grains more powder?
I hear cartridge efficiency, but what does it mean? Let's say if 6x47 was more fatter and same length would it be as efficient as BR or dasher?

A friend purchased the new Ruger RPR and re-barreled to a Dasher. He found that the "AI" magazines made by MagPul worked much better than the steel AICS magazines.

With the MagPul he has no feeding issues.

6 dasher feeds really well in the new magpul AICS AI mags.

I couldn't get the dasher to feed reliably in an AICS mag. The BRDX might be different with the shoulder angle.
