Aguila 22LR Rifle Match Competition Ammo

Hi All.
I've been playing with a Savage Mark 2 TR Pro Varmint. With testing Ammo it shot fantastic with CCI Standard, Norma Tac 22 and Aguila Rifle Match Competition shot one ragged hole at 50yds. I've not tried to tune the torque on the action screws yet but it exceeded my expectations. Have not got my hands on SK/ELEY/Lapua yet.

That being said I got my Ammo from a small local shop and from searching the web it seems like the design/box has changed. I'm assuming it was pretty old stock sitting on the shelf. Anyone else shooting these and knows what it looks like now?
The STD Velocity Super Extra shot terrible funny enough. Wind was blowing today and it may have caused the flyers but on a different occasion the Rifle Match still out shot all the others.

Here's 2 groups I shot at 50yds today... 5 Shots
That's plenty good for my plinking needs.

I find this very interesting. Think it shows again how one has to figure out what shoots well in the rifle in hand, perhaps particularly for 22LR.

I have a Ruger American 22LR, with the 10/22 style magazine and have shot at least a dozen different brands/types of ammo through it, ranging from Eley and Federal Gold Medal match to bulk boxes, mostly 40 gr but some 38 gr. The Eley and Fed GM shoot extremely well, as expected. Aquila Super Extra 40 gr plated shoots almost as well a the above match grade ammo. Aquila SE plated in bulk boxes shot the same as those packaged in 50 round boxes. ALL those others were all over the place and I can't wait to give what is left away. First photo below shows the 5 shots each of Aquila bulk and Fed GM Match, at 30 yds.

I have a very old Stevens 66-B tubular magazine 22LR that was my father's and was the first gun I ever shot (with open sights), at around 5 yrs old (77 now). I've recently installed a vintage Redfield peep sight on it and love it. With the peep sight, it shoots as well or better than the Ruger American (Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9x40 scope). I find it to be more fun to shoot than a scoped rifle as well. Second target below was 10 shots at 30 yds rather than 50.

Eley has not been available in my area for anything I'm willing to pay. I had two bricks of the Fed GM just before the pandemic but can't find it now and have only 3 boxes left. Until recently, this particular version of the Aquila Super Extra plated had been available in most every shop I'd been in for very reasonable amounts. Last month or two, nada. Lots of unplated Aquila, which I've never fired, but now that I've found how well the plated shoots, it is my go to.
