Age on IMR 4350?

I just found three 1 pound cans of IMR 4350, new still sealed...they are at least 14 years old...I had lost track of them but found them in a box of shotgun parts...the cans have no rust and appear brand new...is this powder safe to use? I know I've shot WWII 50BMG and 50-60's vintage 7.62 x 51 with no issues...just looking for some advice here...

Shoot it! It will be fine as long as its dry. You should start low of your normal charge and work up to be safe.

My newest IMR 4350 was made in 1994. My RL 19 and 22 have 1991 dates on the cans. Stored in a cool dry place, it shoots fine.

capn,,,,open em up and look at the color,,,if brown and dirty looking it is no good,,,,smell it,,,if it has the ether/solvent smell it is OK,,,,if it smells like gym shoes/rotten eggs !!! get rid of it,,,Roger

I don't know if mine is IMR or not but I still 25 lb that I bought in 1967 for less then $1.00 a pound. That still works great. The 4831 I got for $67.50 for a hundred pounds. Don't worry about the age. Good Shooting Larry
