Advice Sought - Cold Wet Weather Protection

I have recently been inspired to consider a Chamois hunt in New Zealands Southern Alps.
The rifle I intend to use has a blued CM barrel and oiled stock. My budget will most likely be exausted on warm clothing and other bits of kit, so a stainless synthetic rifle is not an option.
Given that the weather can turn cold, wet and nasty in that part of the world, some advice on how to best protect the finish of my rifle would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Moo.

If you could afford to Melonite the barrel that would be a great option--it gives great corrosion protection while retaining the glass 'blued' look. Otherwise consider a bake-on teflon type coating. That will block any rust very effectively.

If you don't want to change the finish of your gun, I recommend Boeshield or Eezox. With Eezox, I recommend 2-3 applications as it goes on very thin.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep a look out for it on the shelves and maybe experiment with a few different products on some mild steel left out in the weather.
