advice on new barrel

Looking for some help choosing a new barrel for a Mauser-98 22-250. I know I want a 1/9 tw to shoot 75gr, but not sure
about type. eg. canted 5 groove or conventional? This will be used target/local match & varmint.

1in9 should do it with the velocity of the 22-250,however call a few manufacturers and get their opinion. This has been discussed recently and you could look it up.On the homepage there is cartridges listed and look under it.Berger also has recommendations to which twist you should use for which weight of bullet. Some of the VLD's may not stabilize but the conventional 75's should be good to go.

Considering your rifle (Mauser) and what you want to use it for one design is as good as another. You won't be able to tell the difference. 1/9 is a good choice

I would go with an 8 twist. The conventional 75's will still shoot fine and you will have the option to shoot vld's or a-maxs.

8 twist gives you more flexibility in choosing bullets, it will still shoot 55 gr very well if you want to use them just dont try to run them at 3900fps, may have a problem then but I shoot 55 gr in 8 twist at 3600 fps with no peroblem into very small groups.
