Advice Needed on Leupold BR-36X scope

I've obtained an older Leupold BR-36X scope and am confused by the adjustable objective feature on it. All of the previous Leupold AO scopes I've owned have had the yardage markings on the turning ring, with a mark on the scope tube to line up with the various yardages. On this BR-36X, there are two rings of yardage markers, and that's what I'm finding confusing. Here's a picture of the objective bell and AO adjusting ring. I'm tempted to think that you need to line up the two ranges--one on the turning ring and the other on the scope tube, as I have in the picture with the two 100-yd. markings lined up with each other. But maybe I'm missing something here (happens frequently:confused:). I bought the scope used and didn't get a manual with it. Can someone familiar with the Leupold BR scopes help me out here?

Thanks in advance.

Wish I could help you, I have a M8 x24 but it does not have markings like the one you have. But I believe you are correct.

Adjust the focus by means of the eyepiece ,till you are satisfied with the image of the reticle. Then adjust the objective till its clear.

The markings dont always work well.

My old 36x is different.

This is how I do my x24. When it is set correctly it's clearer. Mine fortunately is spot on the markings and it's 40 years old.

Here's mine on my X24, somewhat different. I'm going to guess on your scope the bottom mark will need to be somewhere between the 100 and infinity.

Looking through the scope at the sky adj the rear lens till crosshairs are sharp. Then while looking at target adj front lens till target and crosshairs are sharp. This is per factory instructions. I have had several of these scopes and the yardage markings on the front lens have never lined up. Strip of tape with your own markings will solve that problem. Luepold tech told me markings are for reference only.

Call Leopold they will hook you up no worries

I have one like it. This is from a Leupold riflescope owner's handbook I found it here:

Hope this helps

EFR SCOPES AND THE ADJUSTABLE OBJECTIVE
Leupold EFR (Extended Focus Range) scopes can eliminate parallax
for distances as short as 10 meters Unlike conventional adjustable
objective scopes, the focus ring on EFR models rotates more than
360° It is important to pay special attention when adjusting
these scopes

1 Turn the focus ring counter-clockwise (when viewing though
the eyepiece) until it stops
2 Turn the focus ring clockwise until the “10m” mark aligns with
the indicator mark on the bell of the scope
3 From this point, all readings of the focus ring are in numerical
order when the ring is turned clockwise from the
shooting position
4 Adjust the ring as you would a standard adjustable
objective model

FWIW- I don't rely on the markings at all. I adjust for parallax before every match, and even check and re-adjust (if necessary) the objective between relays to totally eliminate reticle movement.
