ADVICE NEEDED FROM UNIQUE ALPINE TPG 1 SHOOTERS

Hi
would like some advice from any Unique Alpine TPG 1 shooter on setting up this rifle and problem solving.
I just cannot get consistent good groups and i know its not the ammo, scope or trigger, So any tips on setting up this rifle or making adjustments that would help with the accuracy would be very appreciated.

Regards

I’m probably way off here but Unique Alpine TPG 1 should be a .5 MOA performer or better, I have several sako trg rifles and a friend of mine has one which he pulled apart to clean, don’t ask why.
Any way the next time he took it to the range it shot all over the shop, and he couldn’t work it out. He eventually found out the action screws hadn’t been re-torque to factory specks and in the correct manner. Long story short he re-torque them and accuracy was restored.

Hi screws are torqued as below

System screws (SW4) 5,0 Nm
Clamp screws of the barrel (SW4) 7.5 Nm
Clamp screw of the gunstock (SW4) 5.0 Nm
Screw for the muzzle brake (SW4) 10.0 Nm

How can you tell if a barrel is shot out?

Andy,

Seem to be an action as susceptible as a virgin!! 4 dofferent torques for the same screw size...

SW4 refer to the hexagon dimension (4mm). This correspond to a metric 5mm socket head cap screw, and the torques indicated (10NM) are enormous for 5mm screws. Need to be of material class 14.9 to withstand those constraints. Softer screws (class 8.8 or 10.9) would elongate under such conditions....But, on the other hand, 14.9 would not elngate....but break instead on repetitive tightenings.

FWIW.

I hate to harp on about it, but it’s important, are those torque setting as per the instruction manual and in order of preference described in the TPG 1 manual? my friend had this same problem he didn’t follow in order of preference as described and just torqued to what he though .

What round is your TPG 1 chambered for? And what is the approximant round count.

Hi Don't know how many rounds second hand rifle, he said about 1500 rounds had gone through it but it could be allot more.
the barrels looks alright to look down can see anything wrong

OK, My sako trg 22 has 4000+ rounds through the original barrel and it still easly shoots .5 groups at 100 yards

At 1500 2000 rounds a 308 W still has plenty of accuracy life left in it.

Copper & carbon fouling not an issue?

i know you said its not the ammo but i have to ask what is your standard accuracy load for this rifle........... power weight, primer, case & bullet?

Hi have tried three different factory loads as well as hand loaded and all came out the same, i hand a diagonal line going left to right down to 3-4 inch

If any Unique Alpine shooter could give me a load for SMK 168 with N140 with Lapua brass and using a 335 bushing set to 80% in a twist of 1/10 barrel.
Them i could give that a try and see if its the loads or the rifle or barrel
