Hi,
Just bought a couple of these used...
A .308 Win, and a .223 Rem.
These zero on the Go Gauge at SAAMI Minimum.
I have seen these with tape around them and marks and finally figured out what that was about.
Also saw where people were sending these back to RCBS to be adjusted.
Looking for info, saw a Post by Art Luppino, explaining that the Headspace barrel for the Mic can be adjusted by the Owner in the Shop, as...
That barrel is actually two pieces with a slip fit and glued!
A little heat from a Heat Gun or Hand Torch and it will come apart for adjustment.
My .308 Win Gauge was good at "0", but the .223 Rem. was off about .003...
Heated the Barrel in a padded vise and the barrel came right apart.
Cleaned everything, ran half the barrel down on the Go Gauge and then used a little household cement and slipped the other piece on, and set everything back to zero and carefully set it aside to dry.
Now my gauge is recalibrated back where it is suppose to be, and I do not need tape on it or do the Math.
Thanks to Mr. Luppino for sharing this, and sparing me some aggravation or sending this Mic back to RCBS!
