Bought plastic knobs from McMaster-Carr that have brass 3/8" UNC threaded inserts. I drilled them out so they would slip fit over the ~7/16" steel round bar for the handle(s).
What is a good adhesive / epoxy to bond the drilled out brass insert to the steel rod(s)?
Plain JB Weld or whatever epoxy you have on hand- metal to metal is as easy as it gets. Just make sure you've got some clearance in there. If it's a snug slip fit, cyanoacrylate (crazy glue).
^^^Yes it does.. Dang thing looks like "h"-"e" double hockey sticks, but runs smooth a new machine. Maybe one day I'll clean it up and paint it... Right now, new wiring, new knobs.
@tobnpr, I didn’t notice that one of the handles was broken off on the veritable speed adjustment. Drilled out the broken stud and made new studs from bolts. Ordered 3/8"-16 threaded knobs.
Much easier to adjust and looks a whole lot more better.
