Adams & Bennett barrel

A couple of years ago I bought an Adams & Bennet barrel from Midway in .22-250 pre-fit for a Savage action with a 1 in 14" twist. I have a Savage single shot switch barrel rig put together by Fred Moreo approx. 7-10 years ago. I have several Pac Nor stainless match barrels for this rifle and decided to give Adams & Bennet a try. I had quite a few loaded .22-250 rds. from another rifle that fit the A & B chamber. I set the barrel up with min. head space and went to town. No break in or anything, I just shot. To say I am pleasantly surprised at the accuracy would be an understatement. The barrel is quite accurate. This would be a good way to go for someone planning a high volume prarie dog hunt as the barrel was not that expensive and I would rather burn it out vs. a high priced custom barrel.

Sometimes we get too hung up on this accuracy bug and forget how fun shooting can be when you just shoot for the fun of shooting.

I had an "extra" Savage action laying around and it needed a barrel. Checked out Midway and they had a A&B in .221 Fireball. (one of my all time favorite calibers ;))
Only $125.00 so I jumped on it. Turned out to be one of my most accurate "off the shelf" barrels. 8)

+1 on Adam & Bennet barrels. I rebarreld an older 700 with one and bedded it. It shoots very well, most load are around 1/2 inch. It dose fowl n is a lil tougher to clean but for the price it's hard to bet. It's a good blank for a budget build.

I put an A&B on an old Turkish Mauser I built years ago. It shot really good too, especially for being on a Mauser produced in 1913. Chambered in 260 Rem and it could put 3 shots right at 1/2" at 100 yards.

Only issue was how rough the finish was on the bore. Copper fouled like crazy.

I lapped my own bore using K & G bore polish with the round felts sold by Brownells. I used a rod stop on the rod to just allow the tip of the felt to peek out of the bore (about 1/32"). This took out some of the tooling marks and rough spots. It really turned out quite well after examination with a bore scope.
