Action wrench

Which is best for removing barrel on switch barrel rifle-port or rear entry wrench? Why? Thanks, Dennis
You did not say if it's a glue in or bolted in action. A rear entry with a curve is best for a glue in. A flat rear entry is best for any action that is bolted in. You can also buy a rear entry wrench with a hex nut on the rear so you can use a torque wrench.

I did not know that. I don't understand how, but maybe it's a beam-style torque wrench in and of itself? ...quickly Googling and the search yields: Answer: No.

It's a clever design that accommodates a ratchet. See it here: https://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-...es/remington-700-action-wrench-prod26568.aspx
Ought to be able to find a good lightly used one from somebody thats owned one if you put up a wtb ad. Dont forget to calculate the torque needed from the offset

a rear action wrench works with the same make action RBLPRE or RBLP. Just make sure it has a little bit of upturn to the shaft so as to clear the top of the buttstock, like the PMA tool. BATs action wrench is straight and won't won't allow you to get a wrench on the thing because there is no separation between the bottom of the wrench and the top of the stock on ones like the Leonard. Not sure about Scoville or others.

Exactly why I recommended a curved wrench for a glue in on my post. Kelbly makes a curved one that clears the stock quite nicely.

I've heard good things about the short action customs wrench, but haven't used one. I'm actually in the market for one myself.

Does it matter how much you torque the barrel on as long as it's tight?
