Action suggestions for 300WSM F Open gun

Ive just been thinking about maybe another F Open gun in 300WSM. I,m happy with my current Barnard RBLP action, do you think there are any better actions for the magnum head sized cartridges and a 22lb gun? If so what will make them better than my trusty old Barnard? Better cycling, better extraction, stiffer for big barrels?
The Stiller Python interests me.

There are some very fine guns and shooters on the line using the Barnard P (I think that is the large diameter receiver?) so I would give it a try. The BAT MB and M and the Pandas are also popular for the magnums. You might check with yoyr smith about the Python. One of the large Stillers specifies a 1.350 barrel shank which can increase the cost of the barrels.

Not to be a smart a#% but sometimes the best action is one you can get. I shoot a Surgeon action because I like them and the guys who build they are built by. Bat, Kelby, Stiller, Pierce, Defiance are all great actions.

If a Surgeon WSM or a Stiller TAC 300 intrest you let me know. I have a dealer here in my state that has both on the shelf.

If your happy with the Barnard theres no reason not to stick with it.

Are there any of those mentioned which are better in some areas than others such as camming or extraction eg.

I think Jim Murphy used a Barnard in a 7 short mag to win the F-class nationals this year.

Run your Barnard P series & don't look side to side or back!!!!
Nothing. . . Nothing in the Clone action world is TIMED like a Barnard.
90deg sear/striker engagement

The trigger group should be a concern as clones use a Rem pattern trigger group.
If you prefer a two stage trigger group for a clone there's basically 1 option - GC/Xtreme

If you have a Barnard Model P, then the only thing you might need is to purchase a bolt with a magnum boltface, if you don't already have it. I don't think there is enough rim on the standard boltface to allow you to open it up safely.

As for stiffness... the Barnard is about as stiff as you can get. I run a 30", 1.250" no taper barrel completely free-floated off mine with no issues. Doesn't get much heavier than that.

I shoot both a Barnard P and a Stiller Python. The Barnard P gives up nothing to the Stiller action. I had the Barnard first and shot mid range, 600 yds. When I decided I also wanted to shoot 1000 yds I didn't want to be changing the barrel every month so I bought a used Python chambered in 6.5-284. I am currently shooting the Python as a .284 Win. I was able to use a 1.250 barrel but the smith would have preferred a 1.350. I think the Python is threaded in a 1.125 so there is not much shoulder. There aren't many Pythons around, mine is the only one I have ever seen. If you are looking for a used action then there maybe more Bats and Panda's around.

Might look at an FN-Herstal Special Police Rifle.

Factory readied with match chrome-lined barrel and McMillan tactical stock in several of the A-type configurations.
Better barrel life with the chrome-lined bore and reportedly excellent accuracy. Controlled round feed and detachable 5 & 10rd magazines. Could do some upgrading and blueprinting, CDI Precision magazine assy that allows use of Accuracy Intl magazines. Even comes with a Near Mfg MOA+ Picatinny Rail. The best there is...

Or, getcha a Sako TRG-42 in .300win and have a switchbarrel rig prepared. Only factory rifle you can obtain factory bolt bodies for in .473", .532", and .590 sizes. Just maybe a Lazzeroni Patriot and a .338 Lapua Mag could work for you, or go standard magnum and chamber for whatever case you prefer. Get that .473" bolt body and do a .30/284.

Maybe Mel Tilton would chamber a Tikka T3 Competition in .300saum for you? Or just consider buying one in 6.5x55 and having the chamber AI'd? Hard to overcome the better ballistics of the 6.5mm bullet and lesser recoil to earn you the extra X's you need for competition. Got that Lapua 6.5x55 brass availability also working for you then... Maybe do a McMillan or Manners stock?

Plenty ways to get where you want to be. The TRG-42 setup for switchbarrel though is the unique opportunity of our time when it comes to precision rifles.
