Action sleeves

Gre-Tan rifles, Greig used to do all bolt work.
I do it for myself, but you need a lathe. The bolt raceway of a Remington 700 is rarely the same size throughout its length.. so boring the reciever bolt raceway is done first if you want it tight on lug lock up ...as ln a target rifle. Or gauge the bore diameters inside front and rear bridge, example .7025 back .704 front ...you could order a ground bolt to .702 from PT&G complete...but your head space would not be correct with the new bolt...unless you are willing to adjust it ...so everything fits properly.

I might very well be wrong, but I'm thinking he's asking about a sleeve the entire receiver fits inside and not the bolt and raceway.

Butch , I have a sleeve. I'm not sure if I bought this for a SA Rem or an XP. Either way if you want it it's yours.

Ray, I'm needing an aluminum sleeve for the OD of a Remington SA receiver. I'm not reaming and fitting a bolt.
Brunos do not list one, but I need to call.
Woops, on my part, I'm on the wrong page...
Yes I know what you're talking about...now...sleeving the outside diameter of a Remington action with an aluminum sleeve. That used to be popular many years ago to stiffen the 700 action. Years ago Speedy used to make good aluminum action sleeves with integral lug. If they are still in business SG&Y precision action sleeves for 700 Rem. In Ronanoke, Texas (817)430-0597 Or John Loh JJ Industries (562) 602-5553. CNC 700 action sleeves.
Most of us old guys aren't around any more...or retired.

I have a couple of already sleeved Rem actions from years ago that I would sell. A 6.5 384 and a 6x47. Let me know if there is any interest.

John Loh passed away years ago. He had a box of them in his shed when he died.

I think Speedy left several years ago and taught at the Trinidad gunsmithing school. I believe he left there and is in the Austin area now.

All is well. I live in Las Cruces and knew Alvin Davidson. His son is still running the business as far as I know.
I'm not sure if my sleeved actions were built by him or not.
