Action screw pillars

I have never installed a pillar bedding kit or a pillar kit in a stock before and have a question before doing so.

What appears to me to be a fancy concave washer I am thinking is actually the pillar?

Lets say a Boyds stock for example if someone did not do a pillar setup on the stock and just wanted to replace the flimsy rubber/Teflon washer/bushings where the action mounting screws go in on the stock where could a person find such a fancy washer if there is in fact one made. The main reason I am asking is I figure if the washers/bushings and action screws are purchased as a kit they will mesh up for a cleaner and better clamping setup.

I apologize if my question is too random and without proper explanation.

I think I understand your question, correct me if im wrong though.

The action screws depending on the thread pitch I normally get them from my local hardware store.
Remis are 1/25x28. I usually get them at 2" and trim them as needed, since every stock has different requierements.

As for the washer system i would say same place especially if you currently have one, you can always try and find something that is similar.

Hope this helps.

Any one with a lathe, and a little time can make you a escutcheon, or if you prefer, a washer..

For bedding jobs I've done myself, I've had good luck with these kits. http://erniethegunsmith.com/catalog/c22_p1.html
I'm no expert and really prefer a smith to do my bedding, but to do it yourself, these kits work pretty well.

YES, on the 1/4x28 action screws....

I've done Remmys and Rugers and find that the stuff Brownells sells works very well. They have tutorials that tell you how to do it and tell you (and sell you) exactly what you need to get the job done.
