Action for 6x47 lapua

Looking for quick help to determine the action needed for the 6x47 lapua. I know the 6.5x47 case is a small rifle primer, so I am hoping that a regular medium defiance deviant action is okay. I've seen a "small firing pin" version of the deviant action. Can I use a regular 308 bolt for this cartridge?

I thought of a dasher for a long time, but the fireforming deters me and the 6x47 lapua seems to be getting rave reviews both in mid-range f-class and tactical matches.

I have a 6.5 creedmoor for tactical matches and a 284 Shehane for F-Class already. The 6mm round intrigues me a lot.

I just ordered a medium deviant with small firing pin for a 6x47 lapua build. It has a .480 bolt face which is a 308 size.

I guess the question I actually have is whether or not I can use a regular 308 firing ping action for the 6x47 Lapua or if I have to use a small firing pin action.

Mine's in a 788 action so yes a standard works great. I can only assume the small can alleviate issues with pressure related primer strikes. Not to hijack your thread however perhaps someone can enlighten me.

Yes you can use a 308 bolt face for the 6x47 Lapua, and a short action is good. The firing pin will be the same size in either just the opening in the bolt face will be different.

If you are buying a custom action why would you not get the small firing pin hole?

Most people get a large opening bushed to make it small. So just get it small from the get go.

The smaller hole will alleviate pierced primers. So watch you pressure signs elsewhere.

I've built two '47 Lapua chambering for myself on the FN SPR actions, a 6 and a 6.5. Both needed the firing pin hole bushed and fp turned to a smaller diameter. Factory pin of .080" was just too large and I got a lot of blanked primers with even mild loads. I bushed to .070" and turned the pins to match and no problems since, no cratering, no pierced primers, etc... If the firing pin was anything over .074" or so, I'd consider bushing the bolt face and turning the pin to match.
