action dilemma

Looking to build a tactical rifle in 6x47 lapua have got a rem700 to use as a donor action will be trued and blueprinted for the project but was looking at a surgeon action wondered if it is worth the extra cost and will there be any accuracy gained?? will be dropped into accuracy international stock with a krieger barrel any advice please???

You'll never get your money back out of the 700 with all the work done on it, you will with the Surgeon as a rule........

Beware, once you cross to the other side, to custom action you want go back. You want go wrong with a custom.

I have a Stiller Diamondback, I would look at the Predator.

Look for a used custom action, it can save you a lot of money.

I was were your at and made the jump to a custom. In my 6x47L I went with a Bat. All I can say is it shoots!! But you pay for it.

just rember just beacuse its a custom does not mean your smith wont have to true it up!

I have a mcmilian rifle and when I sent it off to be rebarrled my smith informed me it was out of spec. He said borden timberline actions are as close to true as it get's out of the box everything else needs a little tweeking.

batfink,you won't have to true a surgeon action. with all the other features,one peice bolt, built in scope base) they can't be beat for a tactical rifle. As soon as I can save the $ i'll be useing one to build an f-class rifle in 6mm super-x, can't wait. by the time you buy a remington and get it trued your not that far from a surgeon and the rem won't have the re-sale value either best of luck with your project. let us know how it goes. treeman
