Prior to the introduction of 264 Win Mag & 7mm Rem Mag, Ackley introduced his 300 Short Magnum. Why? brass is easy to get and thrifty, also looking at 80 grains. capacity. Cons, donuts and I need an easy way to form the neck. Strange how there's no info on these, and let's not just build a Gap bash please. Any information please be forthcoming.// After further review I'm convinced this Die Set is the #2 Ackley Short Magnum in 30 caliber. I used the 6.5 WBY forming die for the Necks. Looks like it's 264 Win Mag with a 28 degree shoulder and slightly longer neck = Perfect. 7RM brass. Funny now I see 7RM brass has suddenly price spiked.

I found a reference to P.O. Ackleys Handloaders Pocket Manual for the 270 Ackley magnum dimensions. Perhaps someone could verify the 300's for me. It mentions 28 degree shoulder which was one of Otto's favorites and an OAL of 2.45".
