I am wanting to build a 243 AI and am wanting to know what i would have to get as far as loading equipment. i load rounds for my other guns but never have messed with ackley or improved. thanks

A set of 243AI dies. I use Redding Comp. dies.

i take the std case load to 90% fire the size in Redding AI dies

I get the % water capacity of the std case and the fireformed case. the % increse in Water capacity is usually the target for load increase vs the recommended load.

All you need is a set of dies. Make sure they're .243 Ackley Improved 40*. Reloading is no different than with any other cartridge....work up to an accurate load for fireforming and go shoot. It'll be more than what the book says is max for a std. .243. And why shouldn't it be, the case expands into a larger chamber. This stuff isn't difficult. Start about at what your reloading book says is a max load and go up until you find best accuracy. For instance, I shoot a lot of 70TNT's in a .243AI. The Speer manual lists 46.0gr/W760 as a maximum load. The fireform load in my guns was a 70TNT and 48.3gr/760 powder. Find what works best in yours. That load was very accurate and going quite a bit faster than a std. 243, about as fast as with formed brass. With formed brass the load is only a little more.

Agreed, I'm running multiple AI'd rifles and all shoot FF loads very well.
