ACG 021 Action

Gentlemen:

I recently picked up a barreled action at an estate. The only marking on the action is AGC 021. If anyone has any knowledge regarding this action, the company, the history or anything else, I'd appreciate it. I believe it's a Mauser action.

Took off the stock, it's stamped, "Cole Harps ME". I don't believe there's any correlation to Hartwells Gun Shop in ME. A couple of pics.Lastly, I don't know if it's a Mauser 96 0r 98, any guesses?

I cant see much detail from those pics, but overall, it's a Mauser or clone. One way to identify them is to measure the distance on the action screws and search the net. There's a lot on info out there on Mausers - not forgetting the FN, Spanish - Santa Barbera and the South African - Musgrave types. You can discount most military types, as there's no cut out for clip loading, Calibre would be a help.

But I can't help feeling the the AGC 021 does relate to Cole, Harpswell (not Hartwell) of 21 Bog Hollow Lane in some odd way
