Accurate No 2 for 9mm 3.1" barrel advice

Looking for advice. Do you think Accurate # 2 would work for a 9mm pistol with 3.1" barrel, with 1:10 RH twist, with 124 gr plated boolits? I worked up a load with N340 but this requires higher then suggested gn of powered in order to move the 124 rnd to same velocity as manufactured 124 gn ammo. Looking to get powder that is less expensive then N340, and easily found/purchased. Its hard to find n340.

Yes, works good...but in the Glock 26 I had to load .2 below max to get it to function 100% with standard pressure 9MM ...a moderate load would not function the slide completely...in My pistol.
Load data from accurate
124 gr Berrys RN plated Max 4.4 gr AA #2 =1042 fps 1.160" COAL. At 34,247 max pressure.

Plus P load if your gun is rated for it...
124 Berry plated RN 4.8 gr Max AA#2 = 1114 fps
1.160" COAL at 37,988 max pressure!
This would be a hot load, and I never used this one...be careful, and your gun must be rated for plus P.

If you just want Speed go to the 50 gr 9 mm all copper deep holow point and AutoComp powder.

380 Acp 3" 1450 fps
9 mm postol 3.1" barrel 1966 fps
9 mm 14.5" pinned barrel 2497 fps
Never found a faster load ...but I'd never use it for defense,... penetration, and inconsistent bullet performance for me...but others do.

Thanks. No not just looking for speed. I ran man ammo cci blazer 124gn out of a P365 (3.1" barrel) velocities are around 1027. So I want my re-loads to have the same velocity, felt recoil, accuracy etc as manufactured ammo. However, on another forum folks were very adamant about not exceeding published powder manufacturer data. As you increase powder charge there may be a pressure spike depending on how the powder burn rate is. And you may find that going over recommended charge, there may be a spike in pressure but only slight increase in velocity. Thus you can reach a catastrophic event. However, Ive put a few thousand rounds thru my pew pew already at above suggested powder loads of N340 as the velocity/recoil/accuracy if much like man ammo. I have not seen any pressure signs on spent shell casings, or primers and ive reloaded many of the cases 4-5x and ran thru at least 2,000 rounds....

To duplicate a rd you like... look at load data for that the velocity exceeds what you expect, (around 1027 fps for 124 gr ) like powders capable of 1150 fps Max, then start low near that 1000 fps level using your chronograph and work up, to the speed you desire without exceeding max. Some firearms are designed for 9mm +p loads listed in some manuals like Accurate manual #2 ... if your gun is rated for +p it should handle quite a few of those loads. I run some +p and +p+ in the AR rifle platform,... not in standard 9mm pistol handguns where I tend to shoot the bulk right at max or slightly under max "standard 9mm pressure" loads to make sure the pistol functions, for the bulk of my handgun shooting, same for the 380 acp.

number 2 is an EXCELLENT POWDER IN 9MM, tho they built 7 for the 9. your problem is choosing a short bbl, your error and then asking for std bbl velocity with a heavy bullet. poor choices lead to poor results. 2 and zip are to of the fastest. there is a reason most 9mm run 4.5 to 5 inch bbls...velocity

I've used a lot of AA2 and like it a lot. I'm also a bit cautious and double-check my powder throwing (LNL) every now and then. It is very fine and does not take but a very little bit of overthrow to give you a hot load indeed. I'm very careful with making sure I make my ram throw all the way up and down - no short throw. Other than that, works well. I have thought about going up to AA5.

Its my EDC and want to build my reload to perform = to manufactured ammo (recoil impulse, speed etc etc.). Guess Ill have to just live with slight reduction in both. Wish I could get the recipe cci blazer uses LOL. thanks for your reply and advice.

Range Day report: Berry's 124 gn HBFP-TP, P365 9mm, 3.1" barrel. @ 7 yd, 10 rnds each load, most all grouped 1 to 1 1/4 inch (from bench, not freehand) so no real big difference in accuracy. Both N340 and Acc # 2 ladders were within published load data. I found the same results for the N340 as with my previous ladders. If I use N340 I would have to run at higher then recommended load data to achieve same velocity as my EDC ammo (Fed HST 124 gn). However, for ACC # 2 I did find a mid range load, which the velocity was close (40 f/s slower) to EDC JHP. For that load no real difference in recoil vs; CCI Blazer 124 FMJ, Fed HST 124 JHP, Fed American FMJ 115. Since ACC #2 is quite a bit cheaper than N340, easier to find, and I can use about 1.5 gn less I will save $ on the reloads (~ 500 extra rounds/lb of powder) and have a similar performing practice ammo. Thanks to all those who helped me on my journey. As a side note I was using cheap (Servicios Aventuras Small Pistol Primers (1000 ct.)) and 18 out of 110 reloads were misfires. Also burned up about 100 additional rounds of CCI Blazer 124 gn FMJ and not one misfire.
