Accurate Loads in .223 AR-15

hello all, i'm just getting back to shooting & reloading after a long absence from the sport and i was just wondering what different people have found to work these days. my rifle is as follows - AR-15, 24" wilson ss bull barrel w/1-8" twist & Wylde chamber, tube fore-end, A-2 buttstock, Hogue grip, 3.5# two stage trigger. i currently have the following bullets to experiment with - 53 gr. Hornady V-Max(might be a little light for my barrel twist?),68 gr. Hornady BTHP, 69gr. Sierra Matchking, 75gr. Hornady A-Max, and 77 gr. Sierra Matchking. the powders i have are as follows - Alliant Reloder-15, Hodgdon Varget, IMR 4320, Hodgdon H414, Hodgdon H4198. for primers i have CCI & Winchester. many thanx in advance to any and all helpers.

The following two loads are used by many good highpower shooters
RL-15 24.0 grains SMK 77, seated to mag length with LC, WCC or Win brass
VarGet 23.5 grains SMK 77 seated to mag length with LC, WCC or Win brass

Note that these loads are for the Wylde chamber, which has a relatively long throat ("leade").

Also note that one of the bullets you mentioned should not be loaded to magazine length (Hornady 75 Amax). The Hornady reloading book specifies a C.O.L. of 2.390" for this bullet. Hornady does make a 75-grain HPBT bullet that is suitable for loading to magazine length. The specified C.O.L. for this bullet is is 2.250".

More loads are listed in the link below. Scroll down about half way.

thanx for the info, and yes i took one look at those 75 gr. A-Max's and knew right away without looking at my manual i couldn't load those to mag length. so far my rifle doesn't much care for them, i hope i just haven't found the right powder/charge weight/c.o.l. for them yet, i have heard good things about them.

The powders that I have found that are awesome in my AR is IMR8208 and AR-comp
Lapua brass, fed match primer 68g hornady AR comp@ 21.5 2460 fps .5 MOA 100 200 and 300
same with 75g. bthp Ar comp @21.1 2400 fps .5 MOA
IMR 8208 3/10 up with each round. I realize you don't have those powders but someday powder will become more available and you'll have some awesome load data.
PSA AR-15 16" 1/7 mil-spec free float platform with 11"Viking rail, giesle SSA-E two stage trigger. Shoot all different size balloons 100 200 and 300 lots of fun, sorry I couldn't help with powders you have, there are good, you'll be able to find a great load with them

Use the Varget and R15 for the heavy pills, H4198 for the lighter 53gr pills.

Seat the 75 A-max 0.020" off the lands, single load it, and find the right powder charge.

77SMK, you'll find lots of data from the above. 23.5gr varget and 2.260" works great in my Wilson 20" barrel
You might find similar results, or dial it back a tad. Sierra recommends 2600-2700 fps for the 77gr. my 23.5Varget is approx 2640fps from my 20"

Try some Hornady 75gr HPBT Match. Some barrels like either the sierra or the hornady, so try them both.
