Accurate 2015

Mulligan

Silver $$ Contributor
A friend has been using Accurate's 2015BR powder in his PPC.
I think the 2015 is the same powder, and the company just dropped the "BR".

I have been watching on-line for this powder for some time and have not seen it.
It is not like I am without options or am short of powder. Just thought I would try it.

Has anyone seen this powder available in the last year or so?

Anyone using it in a PPC?

Thanks
CW

I've used it since the early '90's. Accurate Arms originally labeled it as 2015BR, then XMR2015 and now it's just 2015. Like Accurate 2520, it's an often overlooked powder.

I've bought 6 lbs. locally in the last few months.

Good shootin' :) -Al

Yes. It comes & goes like everything else. I check 4 or 5 places online fairly regular & have seen it more than once. When it shows up, it's usually there for a while. Apparently not a big seller.

The 2015BR I have is from around '92. It was made in China. It gave me the smallest group I've ever shot from a 6PPC under some 70s. Mostly use it for 358 Winchester these days. Scuttlebutt on the web (so it may be true) says there are differences. I still have most of a 4 lb jug of the stuff, so haven't tried any of the newer iterations.

So the current 2015 is the same as the old XMR2015? N

No, until around 2002/3, the old Accurate Arms Co sourced most of its powders from Explosia a.s. in the Czech Republic. When Western Powders bought Accurate Arms it promptly terminated that contract and sourced similar grades elsewhere, most extruded tubular types coming from General Dynamics Valleyfield in Canada (which also manufactures most of Hodgdon's IMR brand extruded grades).

The original Accurate XMR2015 is still available in Europe as Lovex S-060, and is still an excellent and flexible / tolerant powder in many applications. Shooters World imports a fair few Explosia / Lovex grades, both extruded and ball types, into the US and renames them - eg Lovex S-062 becomes SW Precision and Lovex D-073.6 becomes SW Match Rifle - but the last time I looked SW didn't do S-060 / XMR2015. As we don't get 'Accurate' Canadian / US manufactured grades in the UK, I can't comment on how similar or different the 'new' 2015 is to the older version. (We do get most of Western's other powders - Ramshot ball grades - though as they're made by Eurenco P B Clermont in Belgium and there is an agreement to sell them to European distributors from the factory.)

Accurate Arms/Lovex grades from either side of the changes. (S070 is the old AA-XMR4350 / today's Shooters World 4350.) (PS it's a long time since 500g powder retailed for £21.20 (c.$25) here!)

I've read that (made in China) before, but haven't seen it verified. It may well be so as Accurate started out as a buyer and importer of surplus powder lots from around the world. For a few years many of its grades came from Israel including the original XMR3100 which was reportedly, (and proven in a side by side Handloader magazine test), identical in performance to one of the 4831s (IMR I think) down to using the same loads to one or two tenths of a grain. The original Accurate 2520 ball powder was also one such Israeli manufactured powder from a single large surplus lot and it was this version that was much beloved by M14/M1A 308 handloaders in US Service Rifle and nicknamed 'The Camp Perry Powder'. When it ran out, purchasers complained that the Czech replacement sold under the same name and labels was nothing like as good.

I have 24 pounds of this.

The original owner bought it in the early ‘90’s. The only place I can get it to shoot better, or even as good as 133 is in Phoenix, where the humidity is just about zero. It is around 1 1/2 to 2 grns faster than 133 In a 6PPC.

if you were close to me, I would sell you 8 pounds.

I know it was Jeff Fowler‘s favorite powder.
