Accuracy and etched bolt face

As long as it holds the case tight to the chamber, it shouldn't be a accuracy problem, but if bad enough, it will cause a headspace problem...

Generally, the etched bolt faces that I have seen got that way from leaking primers, and the damage was roughly in a circle where the lack of support would not make a difference. Is that what you are asking about?

Yep that's exactly what I'm asking. While working up to max loads had some gas get by the primer. Made a very small etch and didn't think it would be a problem but figured I should get some more information.

I bought a sporterized Springfield 03, it had an etched bolt face...

...and it shoots wonderfully!

I assume they were shooting too hot of loads, from the apparent sticky bolt syndrome.
