Accuracy affect if bolt face touches barrel breech?

Receiver is Barnard that has been fitted with 5 other barrels without evidencing this issue.

On this new build, the faces of 2 of the coned lugs are making circular gouge marks on the coned barrel breech when the action closes. On one lug the face is fully engaging the breech and on the other lug the face is engaging about 1/2 way down. New and once fired cases rechamber normally with no resistance when firing pin removed from bolt.

How can this happen?

What affect will it have on accuracy?

Someone didn't cut the cone breech deep enough.

It usually happens when the smith don't have the receiver to run a check with.....
It will need fixed..

Thanks Eddie and Preacher. But would you, or anyone else, say that having the bolt rub the breech is detrimental to good accuracy?

It's know to kill accuracy.

Have you verified that it does this with a round in the chamber, or only when the chamber is empty?

And reliability. If they are touching, it does not take much to get between the two and keep you from closing the bolt.
