Acculab Vicon

Hello everyone. I have an Acculab Vicon 123 and I don’t think its measuring correctly. When I calibrate it with 100gm = 1543.24GN when removing calibration weight it still shows around 20GN on scale, if I zero it and then put calibration weight back on it reads 20 GN less = 1543.04??? I got so much frustration with it, can not get it work. I changed environmental settings; there is no drift in the room, no cell phones.... If someone can suggest a good scale that works accurately I would appreciate. Thank you!

Those things will make you appreciate a good beam scale Lol.

Sounds like your another statistic which is common with those scales and some folks really struggle getting them to work. Proper function depends alot on your particular power source and luck helps alot too. At my last house mine was almost useless but after moving it now works a little better but still drifts around some.

First of all leave it plugged in all the time since it takes hours to warm them up properly where they don't drift as much.

Then be sure there are no electrically noisy things on the same circuit like fluorescent bulbs etc.

Of course you can't breathe even lightly on them they are quite sensitive.

Next get out the manual and reduce the sensitivity- that's the first thing they tell you to do when you call tech support.

Also rub everything down including the pan and metal plate and even the plastic scale housing with a dryer sheet thingy (ask the Mrs. about those) and do the same to the powder measure- this prevents static and really helps.

Another potential cure is to buy these round magnetic things at Radio Shack that clamp around the power cord and helps mine to settle down- for a few bucks try it.
If your not there yet try another outlet in a different room.

Did I mention I really like my old Ohaus beam scale Lol????

Call acculab and they can help troubleshoot it over the phone. They are very good to deal with.... after talking with them they figured I had a bad load cell (which are not replaceable) and it was still warrantied so they sent me a new one.

Thanks for the replies. I will definitely try all suggestions. I did made a mistake in my post, its .20GN not 20 GN ::). This reloading….it is very addictive….and frustrating sometime. But I love it! Thanks again! :D

Yeah. Ain't it great when you can sit in your loading room going over your data and win your next match with what you put together.
