I would think a single die would be a Lot#, but I don't know with certainty that all companies use the same criteria for a Lot#. I understand that for those that make their own bullets, the kind of variance listed by the OP is totally unacceptable. However, not everyone can do that. For those using commercial bullets, it is often necessary to sort or somehow otherwise "improve" consistency of the products they purchase from different manufacturers. This is simply a fact of life for those not using custom bullets.Ned, for us that make our own bullets, it is inconceivable to have variations in any of the bullet’s dimensions.
I have never had the opportunity to visit a major manufacturer. Do manufacturers such as Hornady keep bullets out of a single die together as a lot, or do they have banks of dies to make the “same” bullet, all falling into a common area and boxed accordingly?
