accu-trigger

Its for a hunting rifle , the trigger does not hold its setting, keeps getting lighter after it is shot a few times, i have used blue locker on the adj. screw, something else must be amiss that i am not seeing. thanks Painter

A properly tuned and adjusted Savage Accutrigger is hard to beat. Much better and safer than any aftermarket trigger for Savages.

Sound like you have something in the stock that touches the trigger to me
Is it the black silver or red blade. Larry

Its a black silver. i can adj. 4 lbs on the trigger. when i replace the trigger guard trigger pressure drops to less than 1 lb, i cannot see where any contact is made w/the guard, This is a bottom bolt release. the trigger does move left & right freely, i must be missing something. thanks for the help, if something comes to mind let me know. It sounds like something is getting in a bind a little. I would check the bedding. The tang should float on a Savage. Nat should know, I think he is a Savage guru.

Pillars or a good bedding job or both will cure the problem . You answered you own problem tighten the guard and you lost 3# of trigger adjustments . Your bending something .
Good luck Larry

I typically upgrade to Rifle Basix. I have one Accutrigger I kept. I have another I tried to keep, but something with the reset on the middle blade made the bolt lift incredibly stiff. So I put a Rifle Basix in and the problem was gone. 2lb trigger.

You said it was for a hunting rifle. Get the accu-trigger corrected and adjusted correctly and stick with it. Everything else on the market is unsafe for a hunting rifle in my opinion.

Do you have some data to support this? I have a stable of Savages, only one Accutrigger was good enough to retain, all the rest are Rifle Basix. None have had a safety issue. They work similar to many triggers on many firearms.

Sorry , something on middle blade made the bolt lift heavy , = not mechanically possible . Sorry , now back to regular programming .

Check the rear screw on the trigger guard, it may be a tad to long & the stock where the screw comes thru, for clearance. This could be putting pressure on the rear of the trigger, decreasing sear engagement.
