Accu Trigger

no sir but i've tripped the safety lever without tripping the trigger more than once I do love my new SSS Competition trigger more than my accutrigger shoot strait teele1

Most of my rifles have Jewell triggers. I have come to expect that when my finger touches the metal trigger its going to fire. After three rounds I found myself jerking the trigger. The trigger was removed and replaced.

Man, I feel alot better now.I never had a noticable flinch in my life.I got behind that thing at the range a few weeks back, and it was terribly embarrasing...Shaking like a dog poopin peach seeds. But I guess its like you say, once your finger makes contact you expect the shot without pulling through that much travel. Are the jewels for a savage target action easily installed?

before you replace the trigger try what i did.

BUT CAUTION!!! i shoot CG triggers at 'single stage' 5 oz. so if you not use to 'light' single stage ----

i have my accutrig. set about 11 oz and then moved plastic 'first stage' to metal trig. took elect. tape and tapped plastic back ---SINGLE STAGE.

WORKS WELL 'NOW' how long it will last????

BE VERY CAREFULL IN CLOSING THE BOLT!!!

WHEN YOU WORK WITH VERY LIGHT TRIGG. YOU MUST TREAD LIGHTLY ON BOLT CLOSURE -- SEAR CAN TRIP WHEN YOU DON'T WANT IT.

Boogershooter,

Jewell doesn't make a trigger for Savage rifles. Either Rifle Basix, supposed to go down to 4 oz. but I had to dial *up* the creep and overtravel to get it stay and be safe) or SSS,doesn't go below a pound or so). SSS is supposed to have a new 'Evolution' trigger that is only available from them, installed by them so no customer installed screw-ups. Given SSS's long lead time... get in line.

The Target Accutrigger can be somewhat hairy at the low end of the trigger weight. Turning it up to about 9-10 oz. seems to cure most of the 'misfire' problems. I grew up with Dad's ole Mausers and thus two-stage triggers, plus I shoot Service Rifle occasionally - two-stage is the way to fly there. The Accutrigger isn't a *true* two-stage, but it feels like one to me - take up the heavier 1st stage, then just squeeze that little extra to make the final stage go. You'll get used to it.

Ron, if you have more trigger problems on the line and you taped up your Accutrigger safety... don't expect me to be sympathetic in the least.

i hate the accutrigger. i took the blade of the accutrigger out and it wasn't to bad to use then. i since have replaced it with a rifle basix trigger for my comp. gun. VERY nice triggers once you get them set.

You won't like this, but I would bet money that your flinch is there with the Jewels as well, it is just that it is masked by the rifle going off when you first touch the trigger.

If you want to get over your flinch just shoot it. my savage was in a 7mm mag. If that doesn't solve it then, i had a BAD flinching problem cuz i had the same prob. get a good set of ear muffs that have the highest nnr number you can find. i know walkers has the highest but a cheap pair i have is from a pair from walmart. they r rated at 30.

First, the standard message. Proceed at your own risk. I set up my Accutriggers with a very light first stage. Clip a couple of coils off the first stage trigger and try it. I clip a spring at a time and creep up on it. They come out about 4 oz. Then you end up with the safety features and a very soft 2 stage trigger. I shoot Jewells too, and there is some transition. But the Savage feels good, and it is safe. You just take up the first stage and know that the next pull is for real.
