About the 6br?

been lurking around here and reading a lot about the 6br..I made one up a couple months ago and to be serious,I think my 223 shoots a lot better.
Anyway, been thinking about selling the barrel,dies,bullets,brass,etc..Bull barrel
for savage,small shank..mcgowin 26 inch stainless with 1 in 8 twist..
If I were to sell, would I do better to sell as a package deal..Or by the piece..Thanks for any advice on this matter..

I have not seen any 223 out shoot a 6br ever. The 6br is next to the 6 ppc as for accurcy . Let me know what you want for the brass and bullets.

I find it to be the easiest caliber to load for. I shoot varget in my 8 twist and n133 in my 14 twist
6br very accurate.

I guess it depends what you're doing with it, but the 6br does everything a 223 does - except feed in an AR - but much better. I would seek help tuning it before you go abandoning the whole thing. I have a savage 6br that I built on the cheap with used parts and I love the thing. It won't win any br matches but it's comfortable to shoot, fares well in the wind, and was fairly easy to find a load for. I liked it so much I sold my 223 barrel. Many of the same powders that work well in an AR/223 work well in the fast twist 6br, so it's economical to boot.

could not have said it better😜

so,you have helped me decide to hang on to it...What light weight bullet would you all suggest for 300 or under..I find Bergers to expensive to shoot very many of them..Open to suggestions...

87vmax.. and they're in stock at third gen

I ordered one box of them to try. Thanks for the advice...It would no doubt help if I had a better front rest to use...

A rest that locks up tight with a properly fit bag definitely helps, but you don't need to spend $1k on one.

my shilen 6br shoots very well won two 200 yrd matches this year, with 105 berger hybrid, buy at powder valley 32 bucks

it's an excellent cartridge, once you get it tamed...I am still working with mine..
everyone tells me varget is the best, but so far h4895 has been good..maybe i am putting it in upside down or something..

That's it for sure. If you put varget in upside down, it only shoots half as good!

I do have a couple of 6BRs that varget came in second on, even with it right side up. H4895 and IMR 4320 and RL15 are all good in the 6BR.

Out of curiosity, what kind of accuracy have you been getting - or what do you really want it to do?

Searcher----been getting perhaps 1 1/2 inch 5 shot groups at 250/260 whatever it is..I really think the big thing is I need a more consistent shooting
form..Been working on that a lot..Thinking maybe a heavy bullet might be more accurate, though I know guys are using the 68/80 grain bullets at this distance.

That's .6moa if I'm doing the math right. Not bad at all for a pre fit barrel screwed onto a factory action. A lot of these "sub half moa if I do my part" rifles you read about on the net are unicorns, so don't compare your rifle to those. I'd work on getting a stable front rest and consistent form and see what that does for you.
