Abom79 Tour of Starrett Tool Facility

It sad that Starrett was purchased by an investment firm. Are hope is that Starrett doesn’t become like Hardinge, that was also purchased by another investment firm. I look Hardinge site 2 weeks ago. A new collet closer for my Hardinge HLV-H, is $20000.00.

In my Apprenticeship days at Washburn Trade School in 60's
Lufkin, Brown & Sharpe, Starrett Names where Gold.

Roseland Hardware south of Chicago had section with a Tool Room that sold all those Tools.
Every Two Months we had to Buy a Tool and show the Boss. New or used was Ok.

We had to hold a "B" average at Trade School .

I am old Stuff...........

I work for a private equity investment firm and I can assure that nothing good comes from being purchased by one.

In the early '80s the Exploratorium in SF had an exhibit of vintage Starrett tools, every one they ever offered, hundreds of 'em.
