AA2230 and X-Terminator?

Phil

Since AA2230 is non existent, and i`ve heard the rumors about X-Terminator, can someone confirm or deny that they are the same powder?????

Thinking about trying X-Terminator in a 6BR with 55 Noslers in a 14 twist barrel, i`m after the velocities that AA2230 produces.

Phil,
I have tested both powders and came up with identical (as close as can be expected) load data. Went to either Western Powders or Ramshot, forget which, and they had a FAQ section, a company rep from one of the above stated that they were made on the same manufacturing line, on the same equipment. The only difference was the packaging.

From Western Powders site,
"A2230 Data matches Ramshot X-Terminator

I’ve noticed on the updated data for the 7.62×39 (5.0.1) that the powder charges for Ramshot X-Terminator and Accurate 2230 are exactly the same, all entries are exactly the same. Is this correct data for these two powders?

In this case, it is correct. Ramshot X-Terminator and Accurate 2230 are the same powder used by both powder lines.

Since we are discussing AA 2230 .I have an almost full 8 pounds given to me and was using it in my 223 AR with 55 grain bullets .I would notice a different sound every so often when shooting this load .More like a muffled boom than the normal loud boom but bullets still hit in same spot .I then loaded a bunch of 80 grain bullets and the muffled sound doesn't happen .Any ideas why ? I'm thinking maybe the powder isn't burning as efficient with the lighter bullet.

Try AA2200 instead, even better velocity.

Any starting load advice for the 6br with a 55r. nosler????

What velocities are you getting?
Where did your powder charge top out at???

26" 12tw 6 groove X-Caliber .237 bore barrel, CIP 6BR chamber

Sticky bolt lift load hot (95F) weather was 34.0g 2200 58vmax 4000fps. 33.3g = 3900 and no pressure signs. Same 33.3g load with a 55 Nosler is back close to 4000. All groups are tiny just POI changes at all the charge weights I tried, easiest varmint load ever.

If you are happy with 3700 or 3800 start at 31g.

Thanks for the help, and suggestions, i`m still in the build phase so i have a while before i start burning powder.

AA2200 is something i have more of than X-Terminator, i will definitely give it a try when the time comes.

Thanks again,

Phil.
