A18 for squirrels

My dad’s yard and shop has been invaded by squirrels (easterngrey squirrels.) He normally shoots everyone he sees but aging and other things hasn’t been up to it. I put up a sunflower feeder but they have not been to it. I removed the nest one had in the loft in the shop and I’m sure he will rebuild. Dad said I want em dead so I bought a A18. Installed it today with peanut butter for bait. I did a test with a dead twig and a very high velocity plunger powered by Co2 will absolutely slam a squirrels head. Should be called A18 CM.. Looking forward to seeing it it works

Hope that trap works out. I've bought a ton of various traps (and poisons) to try to control gophers, moles and voles in my yard. Not much success. I was recently at a BBQ at someone's house (back yard) and when the sun went down there were tree rats running everywhere, climbing up and down the stone wall and across it. I could easily count 60 in view at any one time. I wanted my pellet gun so badly - but would have freaked out the crowd that was present (not my usual gun-friendly buddies). Could have been an AIRBNB for rat shooters. Ha!

Trust me I'd rather shoot the dang bstd's.. Nothing like a pellet in the brain.... They act like they have young...
@searcher, I was in a sales meeting one time and I had just gotten into air rifles and outside there were squirrels running everywhere.. I was about to bust open watching them.. How was the "BBQ?"

We have been using one for about 6 months and the counter is at 43 but a couple of those were me testing to see if the CO2 still had any gas left. It says ~100 firings per CO2 bottle but mine ran out at about 25. Mine is for ground squirrels so I mounted it on an upright 2"x4" on a 18" square of plywood that I place by the squirrel hole. Peanut butter seems to harden up after a few days so we alternate with bird seed and sprinkle some around the base. Ravens eat up the carcasses pretty quick so there's no mess to clean up. I'm still experimenting with different baits to find something they like that is easy.

I installed a deer blind on an elevated platform that was 3/4" plywood. My extended shelf to support a shooting bag had chipboard on the underside. The squirrel population chewed on it so badly, that stand was quickly dubbed the "squirrel condo ". Besides ruining the platform and shooting shelf, it was highly annoying to have those squirrels chewing while trying to hunt. I shot bunches of them and also came up with a highly effective trap system to kill them when I was elsewhere. Get yourself some 160 body grip traps and black walnuts. Drill a small hole all the way through the walnut. Slide the walnut up onto the trigger of the 160 and bend the trigger wire so that the walnut cannot fall off the trigger. Mount the trap where you will avoid non target catches. One example would be atop a wooden post. This setup mounted properly in a good location will remove many squirrels. That being said, there were so many squirrels in the woods where the squirrel condo was located that my ultimate fix was to cover the platform with steel roofing and make a shooting shelf they can't chew on.
