I have been questioning the accuracy of my PACT autocharge system for quite some time now. I had some time this past week while the munchkins and wife are gone to get my old 505 scale out and play around with it. I have a set of check weights and was testing the accuracy of my 505 and noticed that it was a little off. Or so I thought. I called RCBS and the tech ran me through a few common problems, what to check, how to clean it and then emailed me the procedure to recalibrate the scale. I was amazed at their customer service.
Once I was convinced my 505 was working properly (they are more accurate than I thought they would be judging by my check weights), I started to dispense some charges on my PACT and then weigh them on my 505. Man were they off. Not 1 charge weighed in at the 65.4 grains I was looking for. All were either .1 to .6 grains high. No wonder I have been having verticle problems with my 7/300. I decided I was going to finally break down and buy an Omega trickler. So I went into the house and got on my computer trying to find one. Sinclair was the only one I could find that had them in stock. I placed the order. Now usually it takes 30 minutes to an hour to get an email confirmation for your order. As I was walking back out to my reloading bench, say 5 minutes max, my phone gave the notification I had email. This email was from Sinclair notifying me they had recieved my order. Wow that was fast I thought. I continued onto my shop where my bench is and started to set up to bang out a bunch of 223 rounds. I didn't even have my die set out of storage before I got the notification that my package had shipped. It hadn't even been an hour from the time I made the order. Holy Hell! That is fast service.
Two days later I have my new Omega in hand. I set it up on my bench, set my PACT to dispense 64.8 grains of RL25, take the charge and put in on my 505, trickle it up to EXACTLY 65.4 grains and I'm off and running. This little gem works wonders. I did have to play with it for 20 minutes or so to figure out how to get the powder to trickle how I want to. After loading up my 7/300 I loaded some for my 25/06 for deer season. I use Ramshot Magnum powder which is a spherical powder. This stuff worked even better out of the Omega. Man I am very impressed and finally have a set up that give me confidence that I am actually loading rounds the way I want them to be.
I'm rambling but I just had to say that I'm very impressed with RCBS, Sinclair, and Omega. Hard to find that kind of service any more.
