A question on Redding S dies

I have a question about the Redding S dies and bushings. The directions say when setting up the bushing, back off at least 1/16 turn to allow centering. My question is do you stick with the 1/16 turn or go as far as just enough remaining to grip the bullet to make less strain on the brass or somewhere in between.
If it makes a difference this is for Lapua brass, Remingron 7-1/2 primers, 23.6 grains of Varget and 77 gr SMK's.
This was with my RCBS competition dies which I am now replacing with the national match precision set from White Oak.

Back off so that the bushing moves and can center. Shake the die and make sure you hear it rattle. After that size the neck as much as you want. I think the general consensus is to size just enough to hold the bullet.

I'll be interested to hear the reply's as well, I adjusted mine just loose enough so I could shake it and hear it rattle that way it would "float" and find the center when resizing the neck I was also told to take out the inside neck sizing ball so I did that too. so the bushing sizes down the brass and my bullet when seating opens it up. about 004 difference. Norma is the brass I am using.

May depend on the rifle, auto or bolt. Single loading or from a magazine. Auto, size more of the neck. Bolt size less of the neck.

I've found sizing only the first 0.10" (or a bit more) of my cases works just fine for my needs.

This is for XTC rounds (short lines, rapid fire too & 600) and long-range (Palma mostly).

I size for 0.002" neck tension too, pretty much for everything.

Never had a loaded round sized this way that didn't chamber.
