A new High Master in F-TR LR?

Jade, I finished the match report yesterday after arriving at my destination and sent the results to the club for distribution by email. So the results are "official." now. The NRA report is ready and will be sent to them later this week.

BTW, you should get a copy of the results via email from the club. Let me know if you do not receive it within a day or two. Great job this weekend.

Thanks again Denys, I got the email today from the club as well.

Glad to hear it. This was my last match report now that I have done three years of Match Director purgatory. It was fun doing that one knowing how important this one was. I've watched a lot of our shooters progress in classification over the last three years and it's always fun when they show up to register for the match and announce they got their new card. It's nice to see the system works.

Now I'll have time to work with some of our new F-TR shooters rather than chase down scores and figure out rankings and crap between matches.

I hope you get HM and I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming match.

Dean, looks to me like you also made LR HM this weekend. Congratulations to you and Jade both!

Got word today from the NRA that i will not be classified as a high master, it will be master.......I was always told since starting F class competition that to jump up in classification it was a rolling total of your last 120 shots for record in registered matches.....Well, today the NRA contacted me and said that because the two matches i did it in were more than 120 shots, it was 160 shots, it was gonna be the total aggregate of both combined......The first match was a 2 day match with 5 strings of 20 at 1000 total for the weekend, the next match i shot was a 1 day match with 3 strings of 20 at 1000......They are counting all 8 strings of 20 for total score, not just the last 6 strings of 20 for 120 shots for record.......My last 6 strings at 1000 was 1176/1200 50X for a 196/200 average per string but the 2 strings before that was below the 196/200 average so it dropped the % down to 97.5% for 8 strings.......The last 6 strings were 98%......Just wanted to let you guys know how this worked out because i and several guys i spoke with thought that it was the last 120 shots but in a case like this it will be total aggregate for the matches even if its much more than 120 shots, hope this explanation helps clear things up for guys not knowing exactly how it works when it comes to classification changes, i know i learned something i didn't know.

Jade, I have no doubt you can put that required set of strings together! Thanks for the clarification. It actually does make sense. Similar to the way they look at local leagues. They classify based on the entire season annually submitted for that particular league. So up here we shoot from April -October and that takes in a lot of conditions. For us mortals it can be a challenge to hang a decent average over 21 strings even at 600 midrange.

Regards,

Ed

Thanks for the update, Jade and I'm sad to hear the results. I was not aware of the specifics of the prior match, I just thought you had shot in a 3X20 match the time before and I know you had just shot HM in our 3X20 match. I didn't know the prior one was longer that 3X20. If I had, I would have cautioned you.

In 2013 at Raton for the Nationals, I shot MA level scores all week and going into the final day, (2X20), I shot a 199-something in the morning and then got caught in that horrible final relay and dropped 17 points right there, more than the rest of the week combined. I missed my MA card by 2 points even though I had a lot more than 120 consecutive shots at MA, close to HM, even. But the NRA treats a multi-day match as a discrete match for scoring purposes, as you discovered.

Just keep coming to visit us, you'll get your HM soon enough.

No worries, i'll just keep plugging away, might come later hopefully......Looking forward to the LR matches at Bayou coming up in the next few months, should be fun......You oughta try to make the Regionals at Palo in March, that'll be a good match as well.

Good to hear from you Ed, hope all is well with you and yours......Keep plugging away at it, i hope the rifle is still shooting well for you, it made me smile everytime i got behind it.

Good shooting and congratulations. It took me about two years shooting F-TR to get HM and I've never shot anything but F-TR. Also, the NRA can be iffy when it comes to classifications and national records. In 2011 I finished first in the Tennessee State Championship F-TR (MRP not LR) and I got my High Master Card about a month after. During that same match I set two national records but those have not been posted to this day. I don't really understand why NRA would not post those records but there isn't anything to be done about it that I know of. Take care,

Chris

Interesting...

I am looking to get my classification if F-Open this year and have a series of NRA sanctioned matches coming up, but 2 of them are for LR F-Open.

Match 1 - 2 days - 90 shots for record (Palma COF)
Match 2 - 2 days - 90 shots for record (Palma COF)

I guess that means they'll probably take my aggregate of all the matches which is 180 rounds total, which is going to be a lot of rounds to count. So that means I need to average 147/150 for HM and 145/150 for M for 12 relays :o

Did you make HM at long range?

I don't really know what Jade's most current label is. I just know that when I shoot F/TR in a match it's always good to hear that Jade is shooting somewhere else that day.
