A little polishing, did the trick!

I have just built a new 284 caliber SP pistol from a 70's vintage Rem 700 SA, 21" bbl and have it chambered with a no turn .316 neck, match reamer and in the shooting/loading testing stages now.

I was having some problems with the cases feeding from the mag and clearing from the bolt nose when ejecting etc, while slow feeding/cycling.
I did a complete polishing job, very high polish on the feed ramp, inside the magazine and lips, and around the angle on the bolt nose. (no metal removed, or angles changed, just very high polishing anywhere the cases slide against the feed ramp throat/mag etc)

Now the cases feed and eject perfectly, slicker than snot on a brass door knob, with no hangups at all in feeding/ejecting etc, at any speed. Being that this only a 2 shot repeater, 3" OAL for loaded ammo, I can get one in the mag and the second one down the tube.

Now, to find the most accurate load for the Nosler 140/150 gr bullets. I have 50+ OEM non fired cases that weigh within 1/2 gr of each other, to fire form and get ready for the Elk hunt.

Right now, I have some used (more than once fired) brass and I'm running 3000+ fps for 130gr bullets, just learning the curves with this handgun etc. I will use this load to fire form the new brass, while attempting to find a jug of RL-17 powder, that is not at Hiway robbery prices. >:(

Don
