Anyone know how much Winchester and Frontier brand 22 Hornet cases weigh??
They're used in Speer and Hornady manuals in their data. Have 6 R-P, 250 PPU.
R-Ps are 45gr. PPU cases are 20% heavier @58gr.. Too much difference to be guessing powder weights/charges.

Thanks.

Weight doesnt really matter. Stick with one type of brass, start your charge weights low and work up watching for pressure signs. Hornet is NOT a fast round so really no reason to push it to max pressures. If you want a fast varmint round, get a rifle or barrel with a bigger chambering.

Ive used every manufacturer of Horent brass. PPU is definitely the best Hornet brass and will give you the best case life. They come with 'proper' annealing right out of the factory which is critical for avoiding split necks. Can use small pistol primers on lighter loads. When using larger charge weights with higher pressures, small pistol primers can and will pierce so it's better to use small rifle primers because they have a thicker cup. Just remember to back off the charge when switching to small rifle primers and work up again because small rifle do give a bigger blast that increases pressure

Took my little TC Hornet to Shooters today. l only shot it at 25yds to sight it in and get a rough idea about how the little gun would perform... My load was PPU brass, Remington #5 1/2 pistol primer, 9gr of H110 and some really OLD 45 gr Sierra JSP 22 Hornet bullets--.223'' diameter... Load data came from Hornadys Manuel in the TC Contender section.. 9gr was just above the minimum 8.7gr load... Velocity app 2200fps.. Max being 9.8gr @2400fps.. After getting the gun sighted in/zeroed it shot some nice tight groups at this short range.. Accuracy was quite surprising to me considering l was shooting UNDERSIZE bullets. This Tasco isn't the brightest scope in the world either.. Plus this is an EER scope.. l suspect this will be a 100 yard gun/scope combo... lt is/was kinda fun tho...

Thanks

I have used those same bullets in a 10" TC pistol barrel in cal .22 Hornet and got near 1" groups with the first loads tried.

I also pulled factory bullets from .22WMR WINCHESTER FMJ ammo and loaded the Hornet bulletammo.the neck sized rimfire cases. Accuracy in the .22 WMR resulted in group sizes about half the size of factory ammo.
