A good low pro adjustable gas block??

I'e heard good things about the Odin adjustable. I use a Syrac GenII but I don't know if you can get them anymore.

mines the .936 or whatever.. heavy bull barrel.

I was reading on the superlative adjustable with bleed off valve... $90...

any difference in direct nut to barrel vs clamp on?

Personally, I like clamp on as in theory it makes more contact with the barrel, but I do bed my gas blocks. I've never had one move, plus if it strips a screw you can get a dremel in there and slice the screw.

I own two. One is the JP Rifles and the other is an SLR Sentry. I like the SLR best because it is detent adjustable with the hand guard on. It is easy to tune and can be easily changed if you change ammunition, loads, or use a suppressor.

The JP Rifles is beauty in that it is so well made, but mine has a set screw that must be released to adjust the gas. This means the hand guard has to come off for adjustment tuning unless your gas block is exposed.

I just went through this for a Bull DPMS. Being an AR newbie, I didn’t think of actual gas tube height and wanted the best design, so I bought an SRL. The gas tube is up against the handguard so only solution was to remove it.
I have since replaced it with a JP...which is a nice part btw. I didn’t measure it but the gas tube is possibly .100” higher off the barrel than the original but still plenty of clearance between it and the HG.
Haven’t shot the rifle yet but looking forward to solving the common over gassed issue with these.
Just something to think about...I’m sure me being a newbie is the reason I overlooked it.
I will be putting my new SLR up for sale soon now lol.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the SLR, I've got a couple of them on various AR's that run suppressed. The detent makes the settings more reproducible/more secure.

I run a couple JP and a couple anderson blocks. The anderson blocks are on standard uppers for just plain shooting and they work ok, no complaints and they're cheaper. I use the JP's on my long range ar-15 and ar-10 uppers and they are very well made and hold adjustment very well. The JP is tougher to set because of the screws, but are very nice. I like the clamp on because of the consistent clamp you get instead of forcing 2 pressure points on the bottom of the barrel with a dimple setup.

Well, I need a new gas block... What a real good low profile adjustable gas block to get? running rifle length.
I need an adjustable gas block also and i am thinking of using an inexpensive clampon and modifying it myself. I wonder who has tried this. Alot of good info in this thread.

yeah Im just going to get an SLR clamp on. seems to be about the best out there from my research and reading reading reading.
