A+ for 21st Century Neck Turner so far :)

I recently bought all the goodies for neck turning from 21st Century . Turned my first necks with it on some Lapua 6.5x47 cases this evening and I have to say I am very impressed with the results :)

I used the drill attached case holder and ran the initial pass at low speed, then picked it up faster and faster as I made the next 2 passes on the necks. The cuts were extremely uniform with no lines at all. Was easy to adjust so I could turn the neck completely down to the shoulder junction without touching the shoulder at all. And when I checked runout from front to back on my Redding concentricity gauge, there was no runout! All cases has perfect .013" neck thickness from front to back.

Can't ask for much more than that, so its a definite A+ in my book for John at 21st Century Shooting :)

Curious if anyone using 21st century neck turners had the same results?

You are supposed to turn part of the shoulder also.

Yeah, I was just reading that in an article last night after I wrote this thread. It helps avoid the formation of the donut after firing.

That would explain why the 21st Century cutter has a perfect 30 degree angle for about 1/32" before turning up at a more radical angle.

I only turned 12 cases as a test run with my new turner. They are all still expanded, so ill just adjust the cutter and lay into that shoulder a bit.

Ipurchased their setup for the calibers I load and upon arrival started using it. I have many different brand and types of turners and trimmers but what I have seen so far is the best I have ever used. I have been reloading since 1957.

I have also purchased a neck-turning tool and love it!! not only does it work really well , it is easy to use. found Turing at slower speeds I get better results. 21st century also sells a concentricity gauge that is also just as nice and works as well as any other products they sell. here is their web page address.

John of 21 Century definitely make some quality tools. Heck of a nice guy also. Look around at any big match and there he is shooting right along with everyone else.

(Actually I was planning on it for a long time, just hesitated to spend the money)

Jim, not only was he shooting right along with us at the SW Berger Nationals, he was also a sponsor!

Been thinking about trying one of his front rests too. I figure if his rest is machined as nicely as his other equipment, it should work very well. It looks like a fine piece of machinery in his website pictures.

Have any of you fellas used John's rest or seen it in action first hand at a shoot?

I have seen it as John and I shot on the same relay in Phoenix. I didn't know who he was but the rest was so nice that I asked him where he got it, to which he replied "I made it". I then saw the back of his shirt when he laid down to shoot that said "21 Century", and to seal the deal he handed me his score card that read "John Perkins", at that point I was able to put all the pieces together. ;D

I've seen his rifle rests in action and eyeballed them real good. They are very well made, lots of quality there, smooth as silk.

John is a good friend of mine so you can take what I say with a grain of salt. As a friend and shooting partner, I get to play with all his new toys under the premise of testing. I've yet to be able to offer much in the way of feedback. He's been doing this long enough he knows what works and he gets it right the first time.
