A convergence of hobbies

Its a beautiful 70° fall Saturday here in Northern California. I've spent most of my day just putting around the house doing a few things to stay busy. As I sat down with my tablet to develop some photos I decided to break away from that and finally input some load data.

My girlfriend walks in and mentions that I literally have every hobby of mine in front of me, all at once!

This leads me to wondering, what non shooting/hunting hobbies do others have here?

Yes, I throw yoyos. I've been into photography for 25 years, thoroughly enjoy good beers as well. Only thing not in the photo was the record spinning on the turntable.

I've always liked yo-yos. Never great but like them still but no knowledge past my grade school experience. Have enjoyed Tommie Smothers' Yo Yo Man whenever I run across it or dig it up on Youtube.
That looks high tech. I'm guessing that design extends the spin time - less friction?

Those are ball bearing axle yoyos, aka unresponsive. Spin times are long. I also enjoy throwing an "off sting" yoyo around the house (quite literally, lol) as the string is not attached to the yoyo at all. Still learning that one. I have some wood, fixed or solid axle yoyos as well. Check out yoyotricks.com if you want to see what they're all about or maybe try.

I remember when Duncan Yo-Yo and Toy would hold contests and signings on Saturdays about at the end of World War II. I remember because as a result of winning one of those contests in front of Neisner Dime Store I won a Duncan yo-yo. After and while the contests were going on the professional would carve your name or insert rhinestones into the faces of the yo-yo you won. Let’s see, some of the tricks were; Over the falls, rock the baby, loop the loop, around the world, walk the dog, walk the tight rope, shoot the moon, what else?

Even when I was a kid in the 80's, I remember the Duncan yoyo exhibitions. Watching the current world championships, you'd think you were watching something entirely different now, contestants dancing and doing flips while mid trick! I'm not very good compared to these guys, but I know some tricks and enjoy throwing when I have nothing else to do. It's a skill learning exercise at its core, which keeps the mind sharp, hand-eye coordination keen, and dexterity ample.

Anyone else have any non shooting hobbies?

I have been trying to get into the photography hobby, not as easy as it looks. Bought a cannon t7i and a couple lenses and I’m finally learning the ropes. Getting a clean well exposed image in ever changing environment isn’t for the faint of heart.

Motorcycle road racing & track days.

Doing vehicle maintenance and repairs for family.

Used to go on jeep trails with a friend and my brother, so naturally I've spent lots of time modifying and fixing jeeps.

A little bit of photography. But to be honest, the latest smart phones have superb photography capabilities. So I only use my consumer DSLR for telepho stuff and portraits.

I show some yo-yos too. Got a couple of nice unresponsive bearing yo-yos myself. I only pick them up every once in a while, but it is fun and my y ear old son enjoys watching it. Aside from that olympic weightlifting is my other long running sport. Ive won a couple of state championships and even went to national championships a few year back. Im starting to get too old to be competitive in weightlifting anymore but its still the most fun I can have in the gym.
